Since we have gone INSANE on the rating changes, let me put my Josh Smith argument into perspective: You see shit like this on the internet: bleacherreport.com/articles/2014434-is-chris-bosh-or-dwyane-wade-more-critical-to-miami-heats-three-peat-bidThen you look at Bosh's stats and realize he really sucks and should be decreased. Chris Bosh Rating: 88 Purposed Rating: 80 (if Josh Smith is an 83 or an 84.) Comparison: PPG: Bosh 16.4, Smith 16.4 RPG: Bosh 6.7, Smith 6.9 APG: Bosh 1.1, Smith 3.3 BPG: Bosh 1.0, Smith 1.5 SPG: Bosh 1.0, Smith 1.4 Alright so I will give you that Bosh's percentages are better, but he doesn't bring the same level of athleticism as Josh Smith. Seriously, Howard and Bosh, for different reasons, should illustrate how ridiculous we have gotten on the ratings. If not, I will keep posting one every chance I get and hopefully someone will listen to me. You people need to read Edmund Burke! FT % is virtually the same and while Howard beats him in FG%, we all know all Howard does is dunk. Therefore, you are going to punch Smith for trying to shoot outside? PS. I wish Billy still had Bosh Spice!

90+: Franchise Players 85-89: All-Star potential players, these are the next best players who are top 5-10 at their position (This is where Bosh is) 80-84: Good starters, these player are competent and hold their own but don't dominate (This is where Josh Smith is) Bosh is the glue to the Miami Heat team and although he isn't as statistically appealing like Kevin Love, he contributes more than Love by buying into the team system and not being concerned about who takes the last shot or how many points he scores. Bosh is able to be the first option on any time, but he chooses not to be on the Miami Heat because he knows that that is not what is expected from him and the Heat need him in other aspects. I have no reason to support Bosh, he's not my player anymore, but I honestly feel like an 88 rating is perfectly suitable for him. Also, you clearly just made this thread because Josh Smith is getting a decrease. No fucking shit I did! I am so sick of hearing about how great a "glue guy" Bosh is. You want to see glue? Hibbert and West made him look like glue. Again, you are using arguments outside of the scope of statics. As I have said before, Josh Smith, Serge Ibaka, and Dwight Howard make athletic plays that do not show up on the stats. While I vehemently disagree about Bosh's "glueness," you cannot valid one time of argument and not the other. Statically, Josh Smith should be about the same ratings if not rated a little higher. Therefore, I stick to my 80 rating and I will be curious to hear the rest of the league. PS. Using your chart, Smith should be AT LEAST an 85.

The Heat have a losing record without Bosh, but a winning record when either LBJ or Wade are out and Bosh is playing. Chris Bosh is the most criminally underrated playing in the NBA.
This is stupid if you are saying Bosh is an 80 then I say he's 96 to balance it out.

Your entitled to your own opinion but I ask that you not make threads for the pure sake of arguing in the case of Josh Smith. Since Bosh isn't my player anymore, I could honestly care less what the league decides his rating will be. I've given my opinion and that's all. #1: You only made that thread because he's my player; there is NO WAY IN HELL you could really think he's an 82. #2: Comparisons are a GREAT way to make a point and I am sooooooooo sick if people talking about great Chris Bosh. In all honesty, they are a Big 2, if not a Big Lebron, and he really sucks. Therefore, I honestly feel like this should be his rating be an 80. #3: Isn't everyone "entitled to their opinions?" #4: Frankly, why should I give a damn "what you ask?" If Ian said not to do it, fine I might, but you haha. Even the young GM's think you are a turd.

Here is the comparison for you
Not only is Chris Bosh about twice as good as Josh Smith he also doesn't take stupid shots. The percentage Smith shoots at makes him WORSE for his team when he steps out onto the floor.
Bosh Very efficient for a big who shoots 3 pointers.
FG% .520 3pt% .351
Josh Smith Takes 3.4 3 pointers a game at 24% are you freaking kidding me?
FG% .417 3pt% .248

You have to look at all the numbers together not just the ppg otherwise we might as well jump MCW up to Kyrie levels he averages like 16ppg doesn't he? Oh wait he shoots like 35% or so.

Advanced StatsBy every single advanced stat other than steals and blocks Chris Bosh is significantly better than Josh Smith.

I think that if Josh Smith is sitting at an 87 then is has to almost all be in athletic traits, to be honest he might be the second only to LBJ in terms of raw athleticism. But his shooting ability needs to be addressed.

Haha is this really for real? Okay, I'll go with 88. Maybe if Blake Griffin is an 87, I'll go wih 87, but no, so it's 88.
Is Josh Smith really the better player than Bosh? lol

He's doing it to make a point, and I get it. But there really isn't a point to be made, as it stands right now Josh Smith is a very athletic "meh" player.

At the same time, however, we should lower Bosh's post defense to 0.

Jeremiah, you clearly don't understand the point of this thread. Nobody in their right mind proposes a rating of 80 to Chris Bosh; he's trying to villainize me for starting a stock watch thread for Josh Smith, even though everyone seemed to agree that an 87 was an absurd rating for him. Like I said, I could respect lowering Smith to an 85.

Is Josh Smith really the better player than Bosh? lol To answer your questions, Blake should not even be in the same conversation as Smith or Bosh. Of the latter two, I think Smith is A LOT better of a player than Bosh. My honest unbiased ratings: Blake - 92 Dwight - 88 Smith - 87 Bosh - 82

But your ratings ARE completely biased. I don't have any of these players nor am I competing with anyone that has these players. You are out of your damn mind if you think that Josh Smith is a better basketball player than Chris Bosh. Just because you aren't crazy athletic doesn't mean you can't be great at basketball.
Chris Bosh is a 25ppg player who has sacrificed his personal numbers for titles.
His efficiency is has somehow managed to get better as he's increased his 3pt shot attempts. That is almost unheard of. Bosh is also second only to LeBron in terms of defensive ability on the Miami Heat.
Josh Smith gets so many blocks because he gets from behind blocks because he's so damn late getting back on defense and because he lets players blow right by him. Who cares, he blocks them 2 times they make it the other 8 times they do it.
At this point he is basically a bigger Tony Allen who is worse at on ball defense, a great athlete who gets great steals and blocks for his position who can't shoot to save his life. Bosh gets his OVR from good shooting ratings.

Also advanced stats may not be the be all end all but the sample sizes on these two players we are comparing are big enough that they can't be ignored.

I disagree with just about everything you said BUT I cannot believe you, who does seem like a knowledge individual, thinks Chris Bosh IS THE SECOND DEFENDER ON THE HEAT!?!?!?!?!?1?1 Did you watch Miami and Indiana last year?

Yeah, and they won. Because of a defensive play by CHRIS BOSH!

In fact, them winning vs a team with a vastly better interior I think goes to show exactly how good and valuable to the Heat Chris Bosh is.

You didn't watch the game because BIRDMAN is the one that went in there and battled while Bosh gave up like a pussy. This year they should put Lebron on West, rotate Birdman/Oden on Hibbert, Wade on George (I guess), and let Bosh guard Stephenson.

Bosh probably could, he used to play the 3 a bit when he was on Toronto. Bosh is tasked as the team's starting C even though he is clearly a PF.

I know ratings are subjective and stuff but this is one case where you are wrong, there isn't one General Manager in the NBA who would rather have Josh Smith over Chris Bosh given the opportunity.
