Seeing decent minutes filling in at center for the Heat. Someone who should have some staying power in the league given his recent performance.
Here's his numbers from this season:
In 12 games, he's averaged 13.2 MPG, shooting 66.7% from the field and pulling down 4.9 boards and 5.3PPG while getting nearly two blocks a game at 1.8. Also, has 0.4 steals a game. However, dude is terrible from the charity stripe at 42.3%.
My suggested rating is a 71.

72.
We get guys like this all the time. Mike James, Bobby Simmons, Earl Clark, most of them fall back into obscurity. Jeremy Lin is one of the only recent examples of a guy who's managed to stay at a relatively high level. He's still not at his Linsanity level though.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out with Whiteside, he's 25 too so it's not like he's really young or anything.

For a player to record a triple double, he deserves some consideration. Specially if it is in Block!
I will be more optimistic.

UPDATED RATING ON 2/12/15
I'm going to up my rating to a 76, from a previous 73. More time has passed, he's kept it up. Keep in mind, if he does ever fall on his face, he will need a decrease!

The last two were Keon Clark and Javale McGee. Not exactly winning company. Everyone who was good that did it other than Vlade Divac was 25+ years ago when just being over 6'10" got you onto the all defense team. There weren't that many of them which is why there are so many repeats at the top of the list.

Some of us have waited months for increases. Some of us have been a playoff team and every player was decreased within a two week period..screwing everything. When they get to it they will. If its not until closer to the playoffs oh well. Hes not special, nor are you. Its not like your team is tryin to win...

my only concern was that he wouldn't be able to continue his production but he has clearly shown he can hold up his own. being from wv, i watched him at marshall and had doubts he would ever make it in the nba but it really does seem like he's turned it around.
having said so, i change my vote from a 74 to 80.
