Mid Level Exception (2020/21)Mid Level Exception - $9,536,000- The only teams who possess the MLE are teams that are over the Salary Cap, and teams under the cap by an amount less than the MLE, on the starting day of Off Season Free Agency. If a team drops below the Salary Cap by an amount more than the MLE on that date then they forfeit their MLE.
- GMs may use all or part of their Mid Level Exception to sign a player if their team is over the Salary Cap, but not the Hard Cap.
- The MLE can be used on multiple players.
- The amount of MLE money a team can use resets each season at the start of every Off Season Free Agency. Previous MLE signings have no impact on the amount a team can spend.
These teams may use the MLE: Charlotte Hornets - $8,200,000*** Chicago Bulls - $7,198,310***** Cleveland Cavaliers - $5,900,000**** Dallas Mavericks - $9,258,000* Detroit Pistons Golden State Warriors - $9,258,000* Houston Rockets LA Clippers - $2,000,000** Milwaukee Bucks - $8,000,000* Minnesota Timberwolves - $9,258,000** New York Knicks Orlando Magic - $900,000* Philadelphia 76ers - $9,258,000* Phoenix Suns - $4,600,000** Portland Trail Blazers - $898,310* Sacramento Kings - $9,258,000**** Toronto Raptors - $900,000* Washington WizardsSee 2019/20 Mid Level Exception thread here.
