Current: 93 Proposed: 89 Seems like Westbrook's value has gone up and down a lot this year. On 15th February he was lowered from 93 to 90. 17 days later James proposed that Westbrook should be bumped up to 95, although the eventual rating ended up being 93 in the April rating changes. The Hornets then won the D5 Championship led by Westbrook even though he played like a black hole during the Bubble and NBA playoffs (I told you guys we should've waited! /sarcasm ): 17.9ppg on 42/24/53 (!!!) 7.0rpg 4.6apg Having said that his pre-Bubble performances were still great and we shouldn't be too hasty to jump on Russ, he's still a beast: 27.2ppg on 47/26/76 7.9rpg 7.0apg My overwhelming feeling though is that he's just not a 90+ guy any more. He completely self destructed during the Playoffs.

Agree on the 89 and I’m going to give some suggestions on where to slash based on his current build and play: - Right now he’s a 49 for 3 PT— obviously he shouldn’t be tanked to 1, but I think somewhere in the low 30s makes sense for that to reflect he cannot shoot from there at all anymore and he’s severely cutting back on that shot selection
- Handle is set at 91, and I’d argue that needs to be lower— he is an absolute TO machine (been at 4.3 or more per game the last six years running) and he gets caught a decent amount of the time. Figure something in the 75-80 range instead
- FTs is at 78; this is an area where he’s been steadily declining for years now (throwing out his outlier 2018 year where he hit 64%) since a peak of 84% in 2016-17. 70 seems appropriate
- Awareness is a 95– to me, this needs to be dialed back. The way he fell apart and the decision making he displayed really doesn’t match someone with that kind of build in the sims; I think 85 at best for this one
- Defense wise, his steals ratings (79) is fine, but his awareness rating (80) should be scaled back a bit. He took a huge step back this year on that end based on the advanced stats (-0.1 DBPM compared to 2.4 DBPM last season, and based on the NBAs tracking stats for defense, as the main defender he is allowing opponents to make 60% of mid range shots and 52% for all 2 PT FG). Would say he should be in the 70-74 range on defensive awareness.

Sorry but this is an absurd thread lol. The guy doesn’t play basketball for 4 months, GETS COVID-19, comes back, strains his quad, and now he’s up to be lowered after only a twelve game sample size, basically half of which were against the first seed and likely favorite to win the championship.

I agree with James, this thread doesn't make sense right now. However, I'm ready to vote him down to and 86/87 2 months after the season starts

I agree with James, this thread doesn't make sense right now. However, I'm ready to vote him down to and 86/87 2 months after the season starts 100%. By all means. if his poor play continues into next season, use these games as further evidence of his need to be lowered. But a twelve game sample size under the circumstances ( injury. time off, covid, playoffs, etc) is a bad basis for a rating thread

This is a fair point actually. I'm happy to archive this thread in fact. I can't get pissed when someone stockwatched Jabari after 22 games back from injury (which I did a few years ago) and then post this here about Westbrook.
