D5 Hall of Fame Induction - Magic JohnsonToday we take some time out to honour the contributions of a legendary Dynasty Five GM in our first ever Hall of Fame Induction! With over 11 years experience, Magic Johnson was one of the first few GMs to sign up at the very start of the old D5 back in 2007, he was also the very first GM to sign up here when we restarted and was the longest serving GM of all time when he retired in January! At the old D5 Magic Johnson made the 2010 'Decision' easy for Lebron James who joined Magic's Dallas Mavericks team in the biggest free agent decision of the old league. Taking the reigns of the Los Angeles Lakers when we restarted, with the trade of the year Magic made an early pairing of Kobe Bryant and rookie era Kyrie Irving in LA. Magic Johnson maintained an absolute commitment to Kobe Bryant until Kobe's retirement. It seemed perfectly fitting then for Kobe Bryant to subsequently take over as GM in January but, like Magic's real-life coaching career, things didn't quite work out as hoped and quickly came to an end and the Lakers were passed to Mark Price who has set the Lakers on a promising path since with some early trades. I know at some point in the future Magic will be back again to see this thread and will know that he's now immortalised as the very first inductee into the Hall of Fame! Thanks for everything, Magic Johnson!

BK, the guy who set up an amazing rebuild and then disassembled it and left.

BK, the guy who set up an amazing rebuild and then disassembled it and left. Which time? When he had the Nets? When he got scared about losing Whiteside? When he deleted his burner to become GM of the Knicks?

Going to piggy back on Spike rn.
Magic was always a fair but firm trade partner and you couldn't get over on him like some GMs.
He did a good job of starting the recovery of the Lakers after Kobe. Mark should post a 5 paragraph thank you that he didn't get handed a post Vlade Detroit situation.

That Kyrie Irving trade was beautiful. He sold Bynum at the perfect time and picked up a star in the process. Can't do much better than that.
