Magic Johnson Retiring
There comes a time when even the longest serving of legends need to put down their scouting playbook and take a back seat and that time has come for Dynasty Five's longest ever serving General Manager, Mr Magic Johnson ! After what will be 11 years at the helm of a D5 team!
Joining on May 7th 2007 Magic's tenure at the old D5 included the epic 2010 signing of none other than Lebron James which could have led to multiple championships if the old league had not folded the next season.
As D5 was reborn a year later Magic Johnson was literally the first GM in line to pick a team, making an early pairing of Kobe Bryant and Kyrie Irving and staying true to Kobe right up until #24's retirement just under two seasons ago.
It is then entirely fitting that, as Magic announces his retirement due to take effect at the end of this season, that we announce the next D5 Los Angeles Lakers General Manager will be none other than fellow Lakers legend Kobe Bryant !
Kobe Bryant will work with Magic Johnson throughout the rest of this season and will eventually take over the reigns as full General Manager of the LA Lakers at a date yet to be decided upon but certainly before the start of next season!
A warm and heartfelt thanks goes out to D5 legend Magic Johnson for all his years of service to us! After his retirement this season he will become the very first inductee of the soon-to-be-created Dynasty Five Hall of Fame!
We therefore would also like to welcome Kobe Bryant into the league - may your reign be long and prosperous Kobe!
