GM ChangesFor the first time since starting D5 I've decided to be a bit dictatorial to do what I feel is right for the league. Ghazny Dimalen and Dan Majerle have not broken any rules particularly but I felt it best to replace them both and to appoint other GMs to their teams. They're obviously both great guys and nice people but it is a rule that "extreme lack of engagement" with the league can get you fired, and now it has for both of them. Ghazny Dimalen 's Detroit Pistons were headed nowhere fast and, whilst it pains me to do this to a guy who's just had his first child, on balance I felt it best for the league if I stopped the neglectful treatment of the Pistons right now and appointed someone else. That someone else is Vlade Divac and I think he will do a much, much better job and his appointment will be much, much better for the league as a whole. In the past there have been calls for Dan Majerle to be fired for lack of engagement but I've always resisted because Dan did at least administrate his team. In the off season however he lost his best player, Kawhi Leonard, because he barely bothered to try to keep him and lost him, and 35 of Dan's 125 posts over three years were in protest against this decision. 3 posts were in response to the thread trying to fire him and that's 3 of the 4 times he's posted in the General Discussion Section over three years of tenure. 10 posts were a complaint about the off season. In fact I broke down exactly how little engagement Dan Majerle has had with the rest of the league by checking every single one of his posts: I counted only 21 posts that in my opinion are actually contributing to something outside of general team administration. Genuine Engagement with rest of the League:General Discussion Board / 1 post Scores & Standings / 8 posts Statistics / 0 posts Trades Threads other than PHX trades / 3 posts Stock Watch / 9 posts Team Administration:PHX Section Team Threads / 2 posts Drafting, FAs, Team Options, Bird Rights / 15 posts Trade Block / 2 posts PHX Trades / 21 posts Sim Changes / 17 posts I know both GMs will be angry about my decision but I felt it nevertheless had to be made.

In follow up to this announcement I have also filled the Phoenix role by moving new GM Jared Montini into the role and allowing Blake Bowman to return to his role with the Magic. Really it's this decision that is the most out-of-the-ordinary because usually I default to the mailing list, but this time I've made the moves myself.

This one needs an explanation With a vacant seat in Phoenix I thought it was a good opportunity to bring back Blake and move Penny Hardaway to the Phoenix job. Blake's been here since he was 14, the Magic are only just starting to mature as a team and put a few wins together, I felt it was the best thing to do and I feel like it was a mistake on my part to have fired him.

Didn't really know much about Dan at all, probably a good guy. However, I had a better chance at catching sasquatch than him posting on the boards.

On one hand, it is probably for the best that Dan has been removed. But, how much power does Ian now wield? So, he can just fire people now when they do the bare minimum?
It isn't as if Dan had been here a few months, wasn't very active, and was fired. He's been here a few years. I think the time to fire him for his behaviour was long ago. Dan got by with the bare minimum for a long time, and I assume Ian warned him about this, and hopefully Dan was issued a warning recently about it, or else it just seems unfair.
Think of it another way, you take the highway to work everyday. The speed limit is 65 MPH, but everyday you do 72 MPH. You've driven past cops, and they have never written you a ticket, but they have pulled you over and gave you a warning a while ago. But you continue to speed at 72, and then one day, the cop pulls you over and writes you 12 tickets because he says you were speeding for the past 2 weeks. That isn't really fair. I just hope Dan was warned about his engagement sometime since the season began.
As for the Pistons, that sucks. The guy just had his first child. Of course his activity is down. But I still got a message back from him within 48 hours after sending one. Its in-season. Nothing occurs if you don't have a role of a committee. Like, if I wasn't on the RC, I would probably log in once a day, check my messages, check the scores. And that would be doing a lot. Considering I could log in once a week, check the scores, vote, and be on my merry way.
All in all, I'm ok with both of them being gone though. I just hope that down the road the people who are inactive like this get "fired" sooner than later. Especially because if there were someone who was more active than Dan, they would have kept Kawhi. And now the league is worse off, imo, because of it.

This Penny Hardaway guy has already contributed more on the ratings votes than Dan probably did his entire time as a GM. What Ian did here was recognize we have GMs here who are active and want more active competition. He's essentially changed what the minimum activity level is. Vote on a few ratings threads a week, do something in active discussion or media boards, join a committee. A lot of GMs do at least 1 or more of those things. You do, I do, and so do about 15-20 other GMs why shouldn't everyone else have to. I'm not going to defend the Ghazny decision that hard because quite frankly I feel for him, but I feel as though it is for the best.

Whos this John Lodge fellow for the Kings? He claimed them first after Julius Erving was fired for inactivity.
