D-wade has a fractured elbow and is out for the season. everyone knows that this is just an "injury" right? trying to rest d-wade for the playoffs End of the regular season is only like 4 or 5 weeks away, so we have to look it up manually now. This article is the most specific, for a "Distal Humerus" (elbow) it says 8 - 10 weeks. For elbow fractures this link says 6 weeks exactly. This article says 6 weeks also. Another article says 2 - 8 weeks depending upon the severity but was the most vague article I saw. I'm sure we will hear when DWade is back healthy even if Chicago don't make the playoffs IRL, so he could come back for the Heat here in D5 when that happens. On balance though I think Wade is now injured.

But I don’t think this assessment is fair because you’re just using regular recovery times, not pro-athlete millionaire rehab recovery times. Also – I feel like this is sort of a double standard: KD has a Grade II MCL Sprain which according to a similar website as you referenced, can take up to three months to heal! www.rcmclinic.com/patient-info/knee/diagnosis/59-knee-diagnosis/85-grade-ii-or-iii-mcl-sprainPlus, he’s got the bone bruise. Is KD supposed to return before the IRL playoffs? If not he’ll have been out longer than 6 weeks and will be completely unaccounted for in D5.

No one has a time table on kd; however the warriors have states multiple times that he will get in a couple of games at the end of the season before playoffs. When kd went down, how many articles came out saying he was done for the season? None and that's really the only defense I have. No one has reported or stated he won't be back until the playoffs from what I am aware of

I'm just saying when he went down, there were articles that said 4-6 weeks. And to take Wade out by citing 4 sources, 2 of which said 6 weeks, just seems unfair.

Yeah gotta love it when you're guy gets put on the IR when he only misses a month IR placement should be retroactive, meaning the guy plays in here while he is injured in RL up until he misses 6 weeks IRL. This way, you avoid things like this. My team has sucked ass since Love went out. And he isn't going to miss 6 weeks, so he should have never been out in the first place

Even if it were a month and not 6 weeks, we would still be in this predicament. How many times does a player get listed as being out 2-4 weeks? Or 3-4 weeks? In the 2-4 week scenario, if the timetable is correct, two thirds of the time, the guy doesn't need to go on the IR. In the other scenario, one half the time. Don't hold any players out in-game till they miss the requisite time, then you pull them in-game and hold them out for as many games as they missed. This does away with the guess work, and clarifies the all too often used "out indefinitely" tag. The only case this shouldn't apply is when someone is listed as out for the season and gets ACL surgery or something major like that, when you know they won't be back so there isn't a point in making them miss a month or six weeks

But I think that will let a lot more guys slip through the cracks than already do. What I will say is I think that when we said Kevin Love is out for 6 weeks, then he comes back early. You're still getting him back early. It's not like we have to keep him injured the full 6 weeks. Which is why I think a month is a reasonable timeline. 4 weeks is 13-14 games. That's 15% of the season. Plus how many times is a guy expected to miss 4 weeks and then is out 6-7 weeks but doesn't end up on injury reserve here?

2-4 weeks I say probably don't take them out. But those 3-4, 4-6 week injuries should be out.

I disagree but I'm open to suggestions as always. I mean it's unnecessary to have to look up recovery times and when its on the edge you're constantly having to make judgement calls. We could easily just do it by consecutive games missed and you're never put in that position.

If you want to keep it at six weeks just count the average number of games a team plays in 6 weeks and set it at that. What do you think that is probably something like 18 missed games?

It would also get rid of all the situations where it's unclear how long a player would be out, etc etc. There is literally no downside.

Are you saying, essentially, once a player misses 18 games in real life they go on the IR in the sim and then it starts being retroactive? So say someone misses 22 games irl. In d5 they go on the IR at the 18 game mark and then miss 22 games in here? I would be okay with that, but we would still have to consider injuries that are considered significant from the initial diagnosis, right? So, say our rule is 6 weeks and some is said to be out 9, they go on the IR right away, correct?
