... but special shout out goes to James Kay (CHA), Charles Barkley (HOU) and the eventual "winner" Shane Battier (CHI). Now I feel dumb for not pestering Jeremiah. I figured I would send my big offer and then I knew he was inundated do I didn't say too much, assuming I would be asked for more as things went. It's what I would have done in a decision like this. Multiple times I've had Gms argue against their competitors and spell out in more detail certain parts of their offers. That's partially my mistake, assuming other PA's do the same things, but I felt bad for Jeremiah and didn't pester him, so I now look like I didn't try as hard. You put a lot of effort in also, I just didn't think through every single offer when I typed that reply.

All this shit could/will be avoided if/when RFA is implemented.

I'll probably make a few more posts, but the the that rubs me the wrong way - personally - was how quickly Jimmy Butler decided to return to the Bulls.
As other players have mentioned already, Jeremiah's first response to my bid for Jimmy Butler was that he was loyal to the organization and wasn't going anywhere. At the time, I respected that. Butler has spent his whole career in a winning Chicago environment.
But now that it has worked to draw in Kawhi Leonard as well? There was NO ONE ON THE TEAM during this off-season. Only CJ Miles, Gary Harris, and Julius Randle were even under contract.
Yet somehow, it was never in doubt that Butler and Paul would return. Which allowed him to somehow draw in Kawhi. From the same PA.
Now we wait for Shane to waive the hold of Noah and Afflalo and pursue a max contract big... somehow this team was given every benefit of the doubt.

You put a lot of effort in also, I just didn't think through every single offer. I would have rather this took an extra WEEK, hell two weeks, if it meant I got ONE response to my offers and just knew where I stood in any way. Also, I know you all debated a lot amongst yourselves, but it feels a lot better as a bidder, to do more of that arguing and debating yourself. I would have liked to know I could have given you more to think about. Or to know that I was simply a "top4" offer or even if I was probably eliminated quickly because I apparently am not ready to win yet. Making the playoffs without Bledsoe or Okafor. If just feels shitty to not get any response for 5 days to something that was probably pages worth of typing. Just give me a "Hi Walt, thanks for the offer! There's a lot to think about here, as in many of our other offers. My gut instinct says you have a chance at Kawhi. How do you see your wing depth shaking out? Do you think you're really going to win more games than 'x'?" I could have talked about a trade for Blake Griffin I was considering. I want to win. That's why I wanted Kawhi. I could have explained that Jae Crowder does not have BR's, and I have no other SF on the roster as far as I'm concerned. And, explained that guys like Jae being a threat to Kawhi is equivalent to a 65 rated player taking minutes from an 80. It shouldn't have even been a factor but apparently was. Frustrating to get no responses. Thought that was a big sticking point for you in the OSFA board.

That's one of the point why I'm on a rant on this. On why I'm not allowed to bid on Jimmy because he is a Chicago for life And Why on Kwahi is deliberate discuss and have other GM's to bid? Just being fair to other GM's I'm bothered with that kind on perception or Jeremiah's just being biased to small market teams or Ian just perception that small market teams are just puppet in D5? Where is the competitiveness of this forum?

Ahh yes.
So, you've never been a player agent. Good good. Let's make you one in a very very important free agency. You've never put in a real offer and been in serious discussion for a top of the line player? Even better!!! We'll just go ahead and give you the most important position.

I do not have a dog in this face but I think it's only fair that I show my opening offer for Marc Gasol again because it took you forever to respond to me. Also, timing plays a role as all the good FAs signed by the time I found out Gasol left. Yes, I know Gasol "was going to sign with me after I bitched" but I hated the process whether that's true or not. Ian, Jeremaiah send me a message when I poke him a message and send me a message I'm out of the running. He did not confirm if my offer was fine. Please specify what do you mean of lack of effort? If I'm not interested into a player I will not place a bid on him. Do I need to draw and spell it or sing it for you that I need for this team? My question is the integrity of this Player Agent I offered Jimmy and He immediately replied Jimmy is Chicago for life? wow no deliberation need? This was James Kay's opening offer to Kawhi: This was yours: After prompting from Jeremiah, this was your best effort as far as I can see in the Kawhi thread: I hope that gives you some insight into the type of offers you were going against and what we're referring to when we talk about effort. While I do not have a horse in this race, I think it's only fair that everyone see my original offer for Marc Gasol again. The Sacramento Kings would like to offer Marc Gasol a one year deal worth $20,000,000 with player option(s) in subsequent years if Mr. Gasol so desires after hearing our pitch. Year 1: $20,000,000 Contract Total: $20,000,000 Projected Total Salaries After Signing: $43,993,225 = $23,106,775 in cap space.NOTE: We offer a one year deal in order to comply with Commission Noble's request via the following announcement: dynasty5ive.proboards.com/thread/6198/announcement-2015-contracts. The Sacramento Kings would offer Mr. Gasol a long-tern contract, but we hope after hearing this pitch, however, that he will understand our plan and embrace it in order to make it become a reality.
Dear Mr. Gasol, Both parties knew this day would come after Sacramento bravely and judiciously made the trade below which made Mr. Gasol a King roughly two ago: Knicks Receive: PF JJ Hickson 79 $6,000,000/$5,340,000/$5,927,400(PO)/$6,579,414(PO) (SAC) SG Danny Green 76 $5,333,333/$5,666,667/$6,000,000 (SAC)
Knicks Send: C Andrew Bynum 80 $13,452,122/$14,452,122/$15,452,122/$16,452,122(PO) 2015 1st (Knicks)

Rockets Send: C Marc Gasol 83 $14,860,523/$15,829,688 PG Will Bynum 75 $490,180/$510,500(PO)
Incoming: $14,000,000 Outgoing: $15,350,703Kings Receive: C Marc Gasol 83 $14,860,523/$15,829,688 (HOU) C Andrew Bynum 80 $13,452,122/$14,452,122/$15,452,122/$16,452,122(PO) (NYK) PG Will Bynum 75 $490,180/$510,500(PO) (HOU)
Kings Send: C Andrew Bogut 82 $14,000,000 PF JJ Hickson 79 $6,000,000/$5,340,000/$5,927,400(PO)/$6,579,414(PO) SG Danny Green 76 $5,333,333/$5,666,667/$6,000,000 2016 2nd (Kings) 2017 2nd (Kings)
Incoming: $28,802,825 Outgoing: $25,333,333 From this point forward, the Sacramento Kings won 47 and 46 games respectively in a tough Western Conference. This occurred largely because of the development and overall skill of Mr. Gasol and his backcourt tandem of Russell Westbrook and Damian Lillard. At ages 30, 26, and 24 respectively, this trio could stay together and compete for champions year in and year out IF A. Mr. Gasol resigns with the Kings B. I, Vlade Divac, do a better job of putting talent around this incredible trio. This letter will describe in detail the reasons why Mr. Gasol should stay in Sacramento and sell Vlade Divac's image of the Kings in the years to come. A. Why Mr. Marc Gasol Should Stay in Sacramento 1. Playing with Westbrook and Lillard allows Mr. Gasol and the team to flourish on the offensive end. Besides the obvious and simplistic answer that "we are a good team and can get over the hump next year," Mr. Gasol completes this team in terms of offensive basketball strategy. Before Mr. Gasol came, I think our starting front line was something like SF: Bill "Henry" Walker PF: Vladimir Radmanovic C: Chris "Birdman" Andersen. While Birdman constitutes your classic dirty-work center who cannot create space, the other two players stood in the corner and watched Lillard go one on one and then Westbrook go one on one. The Kings did this over and over and over until good opponents stopped it and we ended up losing the game. After we made the aforementioned trade, Mr. Gasol obviously upgraded our defense as a former defensive player of the year. Although Mr. Gasol could go to other teams and protect their rim, he really works well with the combination of Westbrook and Lillard because he encourages two players, whose game is largely predicated on isolations and driving to the basket, to share the ball. Mr. Gasol at the high post not only spaces the floor but gives us someone who can play make and get the other players involved when Westbrook and/or Lillard decide to play hero ball. Lillard and Westbrook reward Mr. Gasol by driving and dishing to him for a wide open jump shot which remains a strong suit of his game. All of this interaction creates a symbiotic relationship between Mr. Gasol, Lillard, and Westbrook that remains rare in the NBA today. Therefore, Mr. Gasol fits in on this team in ways that he may or may not in another city. 2. Sacramento Culturally and Socially Fits Mr. Gasol's Personality. Mr. Gasol grew up in Memphis as a child, so his desire to play in a big market remains less than other star NBA players. In fact, Memphis possesses roughly 650,000 people while Sacramento stands in the same range with roughly 450,000 citizens. Given Mr. Gasol's emphasis on loyalty in conjunction with his chances at winning in Sacramento, I would say there is "no place like home" for Mr. Gasol. 3. Where Else Would Mr. Gasol Go? Although I am not trying to brag, the Sacramento Kings plan to match any and all offers on Mr. Gasol. Of the 30 teams, the Kings possess more cap than every single team with the exception of bottom-feeders like ORL, NOP, MEM, CLE, BKN, and ATL. Thus, where else would Mr. Gasol go and earn the same amount of money yet still be able to compete for a title? A. Vlade Divac's Plan Moving Forward 1. The Sacramento Kings would own Mr. Gasol's Bird Rights IF he signs a deal for one year or more. Bird Rights dominate this league and remain unbalancing. If you want prove, look at our divisional rival, the Golden State Warriors, and the way they resigned Curry AND added your brother, Pau Gasol, to the team two years ago. Similarly, the LA Clippers looked poised to do the same thing with Tony Parker, Carmelo Anthony, and DeAndre Jordan. While my objection to the rule remains well known throughout the D5 Community, I am a big believer in "don't hate the player, hate the game." Since the Sacramento Kings collectively, you, me, Damian, and Russ, have suffered at the hands of this horrid rule, why don't we stick back to them? The Plan: Step 1: You sign a one year deal. Step 2: We sign other players to fill out the roster for this year (more on this later). Step 3: We play out the 2015-2016 season and see what happens. Who knows, maybe we win a title? Step 4: The Sacramento Kings then the Bird Rights on Mr. Gasol and Westbrook (who also expires.) Our team would possess well over 20 M in cap space even with the cap holds from your and Westbrook's contracts. Remember, the cap may skyrocket next year. This would give us the freedom to sign LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard, Al Horford, Al Jefferson, Chris Bosh, Pau Milsap, Klay Thompson, Jimmy Butler, any of the other big name free agents this year who agree to one year deals. Obviously, adding a player like this to our core would make us a legitimate contender to win a championship. 2. Free Agency This Year: While we could perhaps sign a big name free agent this year, the task would remain much easier next year because I would not worry as much about losing Mr. Gasol to another team. Right now, we plan to target Carmelo Anthony, LaMarcus Aldridge, Paul George, or maybe some none superstars like your old buddy Zach Randolph. With that said, however, resigning Marc Gasol remains our primary goal which hurts our ability to pursue other guys. Due to this fact, the Kings would greatly appreciate feedback as to your willingness to return to Sacramento, your thoughts on my plans moving forward, and a ball park figure as to how much money you desire. Let me know if there is anything I can do and I look forward to seeing Mr. Gasol back in his #33 Kings Jersey for another season. 3. Other Moves/Pieces to the Puzzle:Currently, Josh McRoberts and Mike Dunleavy are the only players under contract for next season other than Westbrook and Lillard. Both guys understand their role; they are there to start if we cannot find anyone better and come off the bench and play hard if we do. Obviously, they both space the floor which helps Mr. Gasol, Westbrook, and Lillard operate. The Kings also added Trey Lyles in the draft via the 14th pick. He will immediately compete with Josh McRoberts for a starting job, but his long-term potential dwarfs Mcbobs. I drafted Trey Lyles with the idea that Mr. Gasol could mentor him and help to develop into a good NBA player. Although a slightly smaller and shorter player than Mr. Gasol, some parallels exist between the two on the offensive end. To this point, they both like to pass and can shooter the mid-range jumper. Because Kentucky used Lyles as a SF in college, I think he could really benefit from under Mr. Gasol's tutelage on the nuisance of the post and high post positions.
No sir because in real life I would own his bird rights which shows how dumb this rule is. Seriously, I cannot get into this league again simply because of that rule. If you actually read my offer, I wanted Gasol to sign a one year deal so I could get his BRs and then form a super team the next year. Jeremiah needs to answer on why we don't allowed to bid Jimmy Butler from the start of the agency? What's he's talking about legacy in Chicago? Does other players exempted for what he calls legacy? Just a biased PA.

Just a biased PA. This is my biggest gripe! This strange, unexplained yet immediate decision by Jimmy Butler to not even consider other offers gave Chicago such a huge step up in the Kawhi sweepstakes. Both players controlled by one PA. I don’t believe Jeremiah is “biased” towards Chicago, but it comes across as a gross mishandling of the FA duties to have one PA wield such discretion over two marquee FAs of different positions in a way that one FA decision (Butler’s) gives that team an advantage in the other FAs decision (Kawhi) Actually, I while I don’t believe Jeremiah was “biased” towards Chicago, I almost forgot this post - What the funk. Value is equal (Wiggins isn't actually that good remember me being mad about his inflated rating). But at what cost. I'm not signing with this guy who wins a championship and then trades probably the 2nd best player on it. Lol what a joke. Pretty unfortunate that this GM is given the responsibility of the exact position I decided to pursue by making that trade.

I seriously LOLed at the prospect of making a trade as GM of the Nets because all the good teams are set up and will not trade anyone. #2: Nowhere in the rules does it say "the resigning team will resign a player with Bird Rights 100% of the time." #3: Dan is not happy with the way Jeremiah communicated with him while I was not happy with the way Alex communicated with me. #4: Unlike Dan, I poured my heart and soul into trying to resign Gasol. Why? Not because I wanted him so bad but because I needed his Bird Rights. I am not saying all this to cause problems or make Alex or Jeremiah feel bad. Rather, we or yall need to reform the rules and I think giving resigning team Bird Rights and better communication would be a start in the right direction.

Many factors went into this and I see both sides. Then again I don't get how certain GMs had their players re-sign with the future of their team unknown with moves made prior to FA. None of us are perfect and no player agent will make perfect decisions. Based on past FA situations I myself make moves and decisions to try And stay away from other GMs/agents making decisions on my future. Its a risk we all take. If you don't trust it don't do it. I have been through hell and back in this league. I have learned what and who to trust. If I could offer any advice it will be to do the same and hope for the best outcome. Ian is trusting certain GMs to help him with his league. He will make mistakes and will learn just as the rest of us. L's. Its not on the agent to openly tell the league his player needs offers. If you truly want a player, committ to those players. In the end if you try your best your team will be where you want it. Even if you fail and its hard getting back up at times. As GM of the Spurs I could have given up....but that words not in my dictionary!!

I'm chatting to Jeremiah about Jimmy Butler, I might take on those negotiations just to ease all the work he's got on top of all this anger.
Direct your anger at me here guys, I oversaw the Jimmy Butler thread but didn't read it enough to see the responses that were being given after initial offers were being sent. Clearly the Bulls are frontrunners to re-sign him, even without Kawhi, so I can understand why that message went out from Jeremiah, but there should have been more possibility for maneuver and all options should be explored.
If Jimmy Butler's your biggest complaint about this Kawhi Leonard signing then that's not so bad.

Chris Mullin was the non-staff-GM who I brought in to help with the Kawhi signing. Over three days he worked with me, Jeremiah and Alex to weigh everything up and make the decision. It was important we took our time and made the right decision, luckily we all reached the same answer. It was a calm, studied process and I think we were all confident we made the right decision. This was what he posted after seeing your responses: Just logged on. HOLY SHIT. I look forward to more of you seeing things from both sides of the process.

If Jimmy Butler's your biggest complaint about this Kawhi Leonard signing then that's not so bad. No, it’s more what the Jimmy Butler messages implied for Kawhi. Here you have Chicago, with a roster in complete flux – barely anyone on the damn team – and right away Butler is expected to come back without even considering other offers. Suddenly, the PA in charge of Kawhi has just created a destination in Chicago that is much more enticing. It’s just sort of a conflict of interest on Jeremiah’s part since Butler and Kawhi technically don’t play the same position, so he’s able to send both of them to the same team (Yes you all voted but Jeremiah exercised the most influence in Butler’s decision and the messages regarding Kawhi’s decision, too). And I don’t feel good about that conflict of interest when he already expressed a bias against my team when he literally said the words “I'm not signing with this guy” “What a joke” in a thread only a week or so earlier.

If Jimmy Butler's your biggest complaint about this Kawhi Leonard signing then that's not so bad. That's bad your displaying biased to this GM. You are fully discussing for Kawhi but how about for Jimmy did he got some deep discussion? You send initial feeler for Jimmy will get a reply that Jimmy is Chicago's legacy what the hell but Kawhi you have deep discussion. How could explain further my intension to Jimmy If you are already closing the doors? Is this because you are blinded with the presentation.. What if you spend time with Jimmy as what you spend time with Kawhi do you think Jimmy would sign an empty team against Charlotte? I know Jimmy is a ring chaser would Kawhi sign in Chicago without Jimmy?

Why is Kawhi even allowed to leave the Suns after just finishing his rookie contract? This just sours the league even more after last year's player option free agency fiasco.
Even with Kawhi looking to sign with a new team in order to "win", as if he would choose a team where their two best players are also free agents and the rest of the roster is empty - compared to signing with the Hornets or Wolves who are loaded with young depth for the future. Hell Ian should have tried to steal him.

Exactly what Dan said. Chicago’s offer is so much stronger when it includes Jimmy Butler’s return. Given that Kawhi and Butler are in very similar situations, and represented by the same PA, it is at the very least confusing that they took such drastically different approaches to FA. Yes, Butler is coming from a more successful team and a stronger presentation, but that doesn’t explain why he didn’t explore his options at ALL – didn’t even consider other offers, while Kawhi received a Security Council meeting to deliberate his options. Ian Noble Notice that I am not attacking the merits of Chicago’s offer. I would love to, I think I have a much stronger offer, but I DO respect the decision making process and consideration that went in to Kawhi’s decision. What I do object to is the circumstances that allowed a PA who has openly expressed “I’m not signing with this guy” to constructively allow Chicago’s offer to be that much stronger by promptly and unilaterally declaring Butler’s return. If Butler’s decision was in greater question, Chicago’s offer is necessarily that much weaker.
Given the above circumstances, I just don’t feel I was given a fair shake. That’s all.

That is now useless Ian you already made a decision for Kwahi naturally Jimmy would resign back to Chicago.

If Dan had put as much effort into his pitch as he had the last 12 hours of complaining this wouldn't be an issue.
Dan do you realize that you have 115 posts in like 4 years and 25 of them have come in the past 15 hours? You have time to complain but not to form offers?
If he signs back in Phoenix everyone would be exactly as butt hurt as they are now but because I had Kawhi sign with an absentee GM who has a shit team and no future draft picks.
I tried my best to make the smartest decision I could for the player.

Do I need to make a 1000 post to make you satisfy? My question for you is your integrity as a PA? you did not answer any of questionable call you made. Is that your best as a PA? how about Jimmy Butler call?

Hell Ian should have tried to steal him. I did put in an offer but both me and Orlando were the first contenders to be excluded due to lack of any experience on our lineup.

May I ask this one to Ian, are your decision to base on number of post? if your bases on that I might as well post a spam anyware to the forum. Does your requirement needs to be always present to sign-up a player? That's the dumbest answer that I have receive from Jeremiah.
