Current Rating: 87
Proposed Rating: 95
If we are using the Chris Bosh precedent, 24 10 and 4 should be a 95.

85, I'd really appreciate if you gave a real rating so I wouldn't have to do math to counteract your rating so it equals something normal.

Are you kidding me? You guys are idiots if you think Chris Bosh is as good, or better, than Blake Griffin.

I REALLY don't understand this Vlade Chris Bosh Crusade.
I think Blake is an 88. And I don't know if you can justify rating Blake higher than Paul, since Paul is the electrical system that runs the Clippers while Blake is the fancy, high powered engine. Could the Clippers survive all year without Paul? I know Blake stepped up when Paul was out, which was huge, but can he sustain that success over a full year or more without CP3? I don't think we will ever truly know. He does seem to be improving his game every year. He was the guy with the bum knee who could only dunk a few years ago.

Are you kidding me? You guys are idiots if you think Chris Bosh is as good, or better, than Blake Griffin. They're different players man, they are good in different ways. Both fit into the role on their team nicely, and both have success in doing so. You think Blake is as dominant without CP3? Of course not. Just like Bosh isn't as passive without Lebron. How good a player's stats are in comparison to how high his rating should be is very situational. Chris Bosh plays for the best team in basketball, and is an integral part of that team. You throw Josh Smith on the Heat and see what he averages. Or, conversely, throw Chris Bosh on the Pistons and see if he doesn't drop 25 a game. You can't just keep comparing everyone to Chris Bosh, it doesn't make sense and is a fruitless enterprise. Put Blake on the Heat instead of Bosh and this is what would happen: I also think it's bogus to say "oh Bosh is on a great team therefore his stats are lower" because he gets SO MANY open shots that he wouldn't get on another team.

Yeah, I know. And via your scale we can deduce that Blake is deserving of a better rating than Bosh. However, the legitimacy of your scale is in question. You know as well as I that PPG and RPG aren't the end all be all of ratings for a big man.
Blake may be better than Paul, but we won't know for sure for a while, if ever.

If you did the math my counteract ion of your rating means I think Blake Griffin is a 90. You are wrong about Bosh you were presented with a massive amount of statistics and opinions and articles. You've lost the argument, being an idiot like this only serves to discredit your good ratings that you do post.

It is a rating that combines past performance current statistics, the addition of a completely new skill and his perceived impact on his team.

You just hold me you gave me "ample stats to refute" my argument. Now you are telling me that it's based off "perceived impact on his team" which is the most abstract term I have ever heard of in my entire life. Personally, I think the Heat would be better off cutting him.

Bill Simmons is high on Blake Griffin. I trust Bill Simmons more than anyone else on the topic of basketball and yesterday Bill said Blake was the third best player in the league. Shouldn't he be rated as much?

90
He really stepped up when Paul was out and I think it show just how much he has grown as a player over the past couple of seasons. He could have never carried the team without Paul before.
He is definitely arguable as the best power forward in the game right now. Maybe not definitive but certainly in the conversation.

1st - This is a Blake Griffin thread, not a Bosh thread.
2nd - Because they are 2 completely different players, playing 2 completely different positions, playing in 2 completely different systems on 2 completely different teams with completely different players/coaches around them.
That is why a Bosh rating has nothing to do with a Griffin rating.

Well let's compare apples and oranges then.
Both are fruit but 1 is red and the other is orange. Apples have seeds inside but some oranges do not. You can eat the peel of the apple but have to throw away the orange peel. Does that make the apple better or the orange?
Kind of silly to try and compare and contrast them since, even though they are both fruit, they are so different.
Bosh and Blake are both NBA players but they are not even close to 1 another as far as their game goes. Some of which is dictated by their individual situations and some of which by their physical gifts. Again, these 2 players couldn't be more different from each other.
I will tell you what. Why don't you explain, from your perspective, why Bosh and Blake SHOULD be compared? Don't use stats, just compare the 2 players and let me know what they have in common.

Blake has improved, certainly! I think he may have been just a bit too high at an 87 though. I also will, as usual I know, compare to Kevin Love a little bit.
24/9.6/3.8/2.8to/1.1s/0.6b - 52.8/27.5/71 %'s vs 26/12.6/4.4/2.4to/0.8s/0.5b - 46.1/37.9/81.7 %'s
Let's start by saying that Blake obviously has an athletic advantage on Love, and that may play out in the ratings, I understand that. Love's assists have gone unnoticed and unaccounted for, his previous career high was 2.5, and now he's at 4.4! Big jump!
Love's 3pt% washes out the FG% difference IMO. Plus Love is a much better FT% guy, so advantage on the %'s overall goes to Love, especially you have to account for that 3pt shot. I like that Blake has added some range and consistency there but he has work to do to catch Love.
Love the better rebounder by a lot right now and better passer/protecting the ball. Blocks are not worth commenting over, and steals really aren't that far apart but Blake gets the slight nod.
Again, I understand Blake is a better athlete.
But, everything combined I will say Blake is an 88. Better Athlete than Love but not as skilled, so just a tick behind ole KLove.

I say a 90. He's taken a huge step forward this season from being a flashy player to a really important player for his team. There is a decent argument that he is the best player on the Clippers, and he might be.

Bosh doesn't have nearly as many touches available because of Lebron's production and the team's style.
per 36 numbers this year
bosh 18.6/7.5/1.3 on 22.7% usage griffin 24.1/9.6/3.8 on 28.9% usage
If you switched teams they were on, Bosh's usage% would go up and Griffin's would go down and the numbers would both shift. If you look at Bosh's numbers when he was getting that much rock in Toronto they're a bit better than Griffin's now.
Clippers also play at a faster pace (possessions per 48) Heat 91.4 (26th of 30) Clippers: 95.9 (6th of 30)

Therefore, I raise my Bosh rating from an 80 to an 82.
