Looks like Kings were close on getting Rondo as well
Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports has reported that the Sacramento Kings and Celtics discussed a deal that would send Rondo to the California capitol in exchange for Isaiah Thomas, rookie Ben McLemore and a pick, but the deal fell apart because Rondo supposedly wasn’t interested in signing a long-term deal with the Kings.

I think Toronto should just stay put.

Problem is Lowry could just leave in free agency after the season. Might as well get something now while his trade value is the highest it's ever been.

Bird rights just allow a team to go over the cap when re-signing a player I think, the player can still leave if he wants.

Oh wow they don't have Bird Rights on him. Bird rights means that the player is a restricted free agent if they don't sign the qualifying offer.

Oh wow they don't have Bird Rights on him. Bird rights means that the player is a restricted free agent if they don't sign the qualifying offer. No it doesn't. Bird rights only means the team can go over the cap to re-sign the player. It doesn't make the player a restricted free agent. The Raptors absolutely have Lowry's Bird rights. Also a player can't be a restricted free agent without a team submitting a qualifying offer, it's how the process works. That way if no one signs the RFA player to an offer sheet then the qualifying offer becomes a one year contract.
