True And dropping to 3rd in 2014 meant I drafted Embiid instead of Wiggs/Jabari... If Embiid doesn’t get hurt right before his workout with the Cavs, he goes #1. Multiple media guys who were at a closed workout for him said he was hands down the best big they had seen since Oden, and even the allure of the Maple Jordan wasn’t topping that. Definite injury and draft luck he fell lol

Multiple media guys who were at a closed workout for him said he was hands down the best big they had seen since Oden, and even the allure of the Maple Jordan wasn’t topping that. Definite injury and draft luck he fell lol Add to that - if Embiid was not injured the first two years of his career, my subsequent draft picks would've sucked, the presence of just one 80+ rated player in the East those days was a one-way trip to the Playoffs. I'd still have Ben Simmons from the Indy pick in 2016, but I picked up Jaylen Brown with my own pick that draft, and the year before traded my 4th pick for Jabari Parker (although that didn't work out eventually), and in 2017 I wouldn't have had Josh Jackson to trade for Brandon Ingram - therefore no Lebron.

Now it gets interesting: which top 3 odds team dropped to #5 in what most folks feel is a 3 player draft at the top?

Most analysts would say that would be Anthony Edwards as the top, followed by Ball and Wiseman, but gun to their heads, I bet most GMs when they run the lotto after the season is over hope they don’t land a top pick (especially with the #1 slot expected to start at $11 MM first season)

I just wonder which players are Giannis and Gobert though

I just wonder which players are Giannis and Gobert though I don’t think there’s ever going to be another Giannis lol. Though the way Pokusevski is hyped up, you’d think he’s the Serbian version.. This draft’s version of Gobert though as the late round steal...I’ve got two guys personally who I feel good (if they land in the right developmental situation) to be very impactful players. One is Paul Reed, the other is Kira Lewis. Reed is stupid good defensively (like a shade below Thybulle good), and Lewis averaged awesome clips in the SEC as a young sophomore (was only 17 for most of his first season at Alabama last year). But each has a huge flaw: Reed has a jumpshot that is beyond broken, and Lewis plays out of control way too often. The right teams though (Toronto or San Antonio for Reed, OKC for Lewis) could probably harness these two into really good players

Detroit, Miami, Oklahoma City, Toronto remain... This quartet of teams too relative to the top 5 prospects is a pretty clean match, as there’s two bigs (Okongwu and Wiseman), two PGs (Ball and Hayes), and a SG (Edwards), with Miami and Toronto needing bigs, OKC needing a PG, and Detroit needing a SG

I still would rather have Sabonis over the 1st pick, but that Miami deal is looking good now taking into account they dumped Kanter horrible contract.

Honestly, I think I'd rather have the pick More years of cost controll, and you don't know what you have yet? Sabonis is great but IMHO he has hit his ceiling all ready and you know what your getting. I guess it's to each their own in this situation
