Philadelphia 76ers trade:73 David Nwaba - $1,500,000 - $2,000,000 PHI 2022 2nd round pick Denver Nuggets trade:87 LaMarcus Aldridge - $35,654,150 - $35,654,150 - $35,654,150 - $35,654,150 - $35,654,150 PHI has the cap space to make this trade. This trade will need to be queued until after the playoffs.
I accept. Another hard cap induced trade. With this deal I'll have more than enough room to re-sign Siakam (sorry friends ) as well as make an MLE signing. I also have a serviceable replacement in Cauley-Stein for next season. The potential for this move was a big reason I wanted him in the Lopez trade. This will finish up all of the salary dumping I need to do, and I'll still have a championship contending team at the end of it.

Pending Philly accepting, I accept. I don't see how this really fits with Philly's plan or anything, in fact Lamarcus on that money, with that team around him, may not even make the playoffs and significantly handicaps them financially, but if Allen Iverson wants LMA, so be it, he's been a GM for a long time. The Nuggets will have LMA these Playoffs and we can see whether their regular season dominance carries across, but with current LMA gone next season it's bound to have an impact of some sort. Most interestingly this is a "Hard Cap Trade", specifically losing talent because of the 150% Hard Cap, the wheels were set in motion a few years ago now and now that rule is coming home.

philly nooooooooooooooooooo this is suicide How could it possibly be suicide? If it was Chris Paul I would see it, but Aldridge is still a perennial All-Star he gets him for free basically. He can immediately turn around and flip him for something far less than his value, but way more than Nwaba and a future 2nd, and it's still a great trade.

Sixers accept.
Still have enough cap to sign a max after the trade and I still own all of my picks.

First, LMA is about to turn 34 in July and is clearly slowing down. This contract is an albatross. Secondly, Philly is giving up a 2nd rounder in the 2022 draft, which is most likely the double-draft. That's essentially giving up 1st rounder talent. Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly, is that this squarely puts Philly in no-mans-land. There's not enough talent there to make the playoffs in an improving Eastern Conference, but now there's too much talent to actually ever bottom out. Philly owns its own picks, which is great, but there's not 1 promising young player already on the roster, and now they are looking at pick 10-14 for the next 4 seasons. What's the strategy here?

I can't speak for Philly of course, but I'm sure this is not the end, and just step one in plans for the offseason. Judging the roster as it currently looks probably doesn't make too much sense. Who knows, no point in me arguing about it.

If you think championship caliber players are only found in the top 10, you better open your eyes.

I'll go ahead and accept.
Is Aldridge paid a lot? Yes
Are almost all of our players who are, let's say, Top 25-30 ish players, getting Max contracts, and thus, in other words, paid this much, more or less? Yes
I don't really think he's "overpaid", however I do share some level of concern that Philly is jumping in headfirst when he can't see the bottom of the pool.
Terrible analogy aside, there's risk here but I understand going after a very good player and not giving up all that much.
Accept from me.
EDIT: Oh, and of course this is all Hard Cap reasons for Alex.
