Dynasty Five's
ROOKIE OF THE YEAR
KARL ANTHONY-TOWNS
Memphis Grizzlies
&
KRISTAPS PORZINGIS
Cleveland Cavaliers
For the first time in 21 years the Rookie of the Year Award will be shared between two players! Karl Anthony-Towns of the Memphis Grizzlies (Jeremiah Hill) and Kristaps Porzingis of the Cleveland Cavaliers (Hanamichi Sakuragi)!
Towns was picked 1st last year by Jeremiah Hill and instantly dominated upon taking the court; leading his team in scoring, rebounding and blocking in his rookie season under the tutelage of his real life teammate Kevin Garnett. Towns single-handedly added 19 more wins than last year to the Grizzlies season total, rising from a league worst 9 win season to a 28 win 2016 campaign!
Instantly cementing himself as the present and future leader of the Grizzlies, "KAT's" play on both ends of the court conjures images of some of the all-time great big-men and his attitude and approach to the game further show why he is such a great asset for Jeremiah Hill and the Grizzlies to build their entire team around! Memphis no longer needs to worry about a repeat of the league-worst 9 win 2014/15 season so long as Towns is manning the paint.
Congratulations to Karl Anthony-Towns, Jeremiah Hill and the Memphis Grizzlies!
The little known Porzingis fell all the way to 6th in last year's Draft back when nobody could have foreseen him being the main reason behind Cleveland's own win total surging from 27 to 45 wins in the regular season, taking the great leap of securing a playoff spot for the Cavs! Kristaps performances earned his Cavaliers a 6th seed in the Playoffs and a first round series against the Raptors during which he led the Cavaliers in scoring, rebounding and blocking when he averaged 19ppg, 11rpg and 2bpg!
Porzingis's play is reminiscent of a young Dirk Nowitzki, his dominant performances led the most underrated team in league history this year as Sakuragi's unforgettable 2016 Cavaliers continued to defy all odds until the very end, pushing the Cavs to a seven game first round series against a Raptors squad which is now competing for a Finals berth! Toronto/Cleveland was the "most viewed" series so far this year (272 views) as the story of the 2016 Cavs continued to unfold and grip our imaginations, Kristaps posted 21/12 in the final game and fell just short of willing his Cavs beyond one of this year's strongest contenders!
Congratulations to Kristaps Porzingis, Hanamichi Sakuragi and the Cleveland Cavaliers!
