How is this different than the contract I tried to sign Felton to?

dynasty5ive.proboards.com/thread/4857/mid-level-exception-2014-15 Miami Heat - $5,000,000 (Samuel Dalembert) dynasty5ive.proboards.com/thread/234League Minimum Contract: $507,336 The maximum length of a league minimum contract is 2 years. League minimum contracts can only be offered to players rated below 70. League minimum contracts otherwise conform to the usual contract extension regulations. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hmm, not sure if this contract is valid. Maybe, Heat can only offer a 1 year minimum deal? Allen is most likely not going to play that 2nd year anyway.

Pretty sure this is invalid due to the precedent set with Thornton. Making it a 1-year deal or reducing the money wouldn't work around Allen being over 70 OVR.

So, the 2 years deal is valid?
On a side note, I think players agents should reject offers when they are not good enough even if there is no other bidder. For example, DeMarre Carroll's signing should have never happened I think.
On this particular signing, I believe Allen could realistically sign for the minimum with a contender based on the amount of games left and stuff but I think he would never take a 2 years minimum deal.
1st, the minimum we have is less than half of the minimum for a player with Allen's experience in real life. 2nd, Allen is pretty much retired in real life and if he is coming back I imagine he would want as much leverage as he can get.

Carroll's signing happened before he really took off as a player, and before we had a limit on the league minimum contract. His contract stands out the most as a mistake that's been corrected by the rules (edit: that makes us pretty good in my opinion!)
