Memphis Star reports that Alexis Ajinca has been moved into the starting line up, likely for the remainder of the season. It has been an unguarded secret that GM Jeremiah Hill would like to retain Ajinca after this season and it appears that this is a move to try and make sure that he stays.
When asked about the move GM Jeremiah Hill had this to say:
"We view Alexis as a big part of our future here in Memphis, that's why we traded for him. But we don't give playing time based on just wanting a player to stay in free agency here in Memphis, this is a coaching decision. Alexis working his way into the starting line up with his hard work and dedication has only reinforced our high opinions of him and we hope he's able to help us break this losing streak"
Sports Analyst John Ramos says that its obvious that they want Ajinca to stay and as a fan of the Grizzlies hopes they don't win another game. "The simple fact is the only way for a small market team to build is through the draft."
Either way this is an interesting development in what is sure to be an exiting off-season in Memphis.
