OK! Charles and I have been talking about a Love deal for the whole season basically, and have seriously been talking it over back and forth for 25 PMs over the last 2 days.
I accept this trade to go into something of a rebuild mode. I like my team as is, and I've held onto Kevin Love for a LONG time, and I still like the guy more than probably anyone else in this league. The fact is though, even though my team is better now than it's ever been IMO, it is still not a Championship team.
So with that in mind, I looked for the best way to accumulate young assets that may turn into good enough pieces to make me a championship team in a couple years. Favors is one of those pieces. I believe Dipo will be as well. Batum could be already. Dieng may be, at worst, an incredible backup big man.
I already have ORL's 2015 1st, so that is a piece I want to build around. Utah's 1st this year will almost certainly be in the lotto. That is not a fault of Josh Barber, truly. The West is just so damn stacked. He could be over .500 but still be in the lotto, pretty easy to see that may happen.
Anyway, this will also of course make my own pick worse, so I could have myself 3 lotto picks as a result of this trade as well as Dipo and some Draft Rights to guys who are long-shots, but at least they are possible pieces going forward!
Charles is scary as hell after this, and the Kings get a free solid backup big man type for facilitating the trade and me not having to cut another player that I would have liked to keep. I would have just cut Scola anyway so yea.
Glad to get this done! GL to the Rockets & the Kings!

I accept this deal. I've been courting Kevin Love for a long time now. The price was right. I give up my starting SG for a super star PF and formidable C. I feel like my team can make a run this year. I traded rebuilding assets into super star caliber players. And I still have enough rebuilding assets left just in case Love and Rose decide to not resign with the Rockets.
It truly was a long courtship, and Walt, the fickle fellow that he is, loves Kevin Love. And it was really good to work with someone who truly understands how to make a trade where both teams come out as winners.

To be honest this kind of boils down to Oladipo and a 1st round pick for Love and Chandler. It seems like Walt would be able to get more than this. The real Timberwolves got Andrew Wiggins, Anthony Bennett and Thaddeus Young for Love. I think that was too much, but I'm still not sure this is a good trade.
Minnesota will have some good rebuilding pieces though and Walt will no doubt commit to it. I don't know, I'm not a Kevin Love fan but I probably would have expected to get more than this in a deal.

Those Bird Rights though, in real life, they transfer, in here, Love becomes a free agent the same time the cap sky rockets, meaning everyone and their mom can make a run at Love.

Considering all the possibilities, like the salary cap increase, the strength of the west, and the depth of the 2015 draft and etc. This should be a fair deal.
But I also believe that Walt could get better than those returns.
Just my 2 cents

Trade is still pending Vlade's acceptance.
This is a finely crafted deal, the sort of thing I'll be looking back at when it comes time to judge Executive of the Year. Well done guys, just for putting this together. When I opened the thread I said "woah!". Reminds me of my Rondo trade a year ago that took over 80 PMs before it was posted. It's surprising to see Walt taking a different direction, but I understand his motives.
I'm not sure who plays SG in Houston after this deal, Rudy Gay? Either way I accept.

Wait, what is this? Sorry guys but I don't think I can accept because of the TC's concerns about Walt getting the lower end of this deal..... Just kidding and I accept! I am not really involved in this deal but getting Scola without giving up much will strengthen my bench for the rest of this year. Right now, my back ups are Delonte West/Danny Green/Mike Miller/Luis Scola/Channing Frye/Mike Dunleavy/Jason Smith with McBob on IR. As far as the important parts of the deal, I think it's solid considering Charles will not possess Love's Bird Rights. Again, I think we should make loyalty a part of the equation because it's so silly that owning a player for three years somehow makes a huge difference versus two years. In my opinion, Minnesota needed to rebuild because a lot of his guys should get decreases (Love and Rubio for sure and maybe Batum and Chandler.) While Walt experienced some success in the playoffs, I do not believe Love can be the best player on a championship team. Oladipo, an almost certain lottery pick, cap space, and two prospects for Love, with Hawes and Davis more than cancelling out Chandler, constitutes a good return in my book. Houston adds Love and Chandler which should make them a playoff team along with Rose and Gay. With that said, however, this trade could be a risk for him because A. Rose and Love should both be decreased at some point B. Love could walk on him if things don't go his way. On a side note, I find it hilarious that GM Barkley makes all these risky moves because I think the real Barkley would do the same thing.

Why would Love get a decrease? Kevin Love should possess "Chris Bosh Immunity" from any and all rating decreases, but people are talking about it.

I definitely looked around and tried for more. Charles was definitely not adding anything else and honestly, almost no one came to me with interest about Love and I advertised it a bit when multiple people were online. And there are clearly people in this league who really don't like Kevin Love. The best offer I got for Chandler was just Capela's Draft Rights. So everything else is really for Love (and Salaries are Salaries). I would have really loved to get more for Love but it wasn't out there. I'm comfortable enough with this. That 3rd Lotto ticket was worth as much or more to me than multiple mid-level players with question marks (could have gotten TJ Warren for example instead of the 1st). I really want to maximize my chances at a quick rebuild into making a formidable team again.

Feels more like Love for Dipo and a first + the rights since Walt didn't have BR on Chandler. So Davis/Hawes for Chandler is pretty much a wash for me since Chandler could really have just gotten up and left looking at Walt's cap space before this trade. The Stockwatch on Love actually makes me feel better about accepting this even if it doesn't hit immediately. Dipo and a lottery pick plus those minor rights for an 86-87 feels a lot better than for a borderline 90, at least in my eyes. Accept.

For the record, I very much prefer what I got from Charles to either offer listed above. I feel I already have a PF and C of the future so Pekovic does nothing for me but eat up money. I don't like Mayo, or Blair...wouldn't have Draymond's BR's...Gerald is nice but not enough for Love!
I'm also not a big fan of Jeff Green or George Hill or fournier and Philly's 1st is not lotto-bound, which Utah's seems to be right now.

Walt can't get a better return on this deal because everyone in the league overvalues under 25 year old players. Plus he really only had one buyer, anyone that has a bunch of young assets isn't giving them up because they aren't ready to make that jump. And anyone who wants to make that jump doesn't have the assets to do so.
