The Houston Rockets have announced that they have officially made their hiring decision for the head coaching position.
Charles Barkley called a press conference and said, "My friend, Kenny Smith, will be taking over the head coaching duties. I mainly hired him because he is a cool dude who seems to know a little bit about basketball and winning championships. He is also a legend in Houston. And he has a cool nickname. I wish mine was the Jet or something, but, instead I get, 'The Round Mound of Rebound.'"
In addition to hiring Kenny "The Jet" Smith, they have also bought the rights to "The Jet" nickname from Benny Rodriguez. Benny Rodriguez, or as everyone knows him, Benny "The Jet" Rodriguez, was the star on the sandlot but the Rockets feel that "The Jet" is best a basketball related nickname.
Also, on the coaching staff, Hakeem "The Dream" Olajuwon. Is this a pre-cursor to what the Rockets will do on draft night? Or are the Rockets just trying to acquire as many Houston legends as possible? One thing is for sure, no one will be spending hours working with Olajuwon in the off-season learning the Dream Shake. Well, no one besides the Rockets players.
Barkley on the matter, "Hakeem knows a lot about basketball, and he is also a cool dude. I mainly hired him to teach me the Dream Shake, that way I can beat the guys on the courts downtown during our pick up games."
