Salt Lake City
Tristan Thompson, a 23 year old forward from Canada, was traded for by the Utah Jazz this week. In the deal, General Manager Josh Barber of the Jazz sent away Gerald Henderson to the San Antonio Spurs for the young forward. A source close to Thompson said he was unhappy in San Antonio, citing his lack of playing time as his main grievance. According to Barber, Thompson is going to have nothing to complain about in Utah,
"Tristan really impressed us as soon as he took the floor for his first practice as a Jazz. We're all about giving guys opportunity here, and we think T can really come in and contribute right away"
In his first game as a Jazz, Thompson got the starting nod and grabbed down 12 rebounds in 36 minutes of action. Thompson may need some time to adjust, as he only saw the floor in one game this season as a Spur.
He replaced loose cannon Thaddeus Young in the frontcourt. According to Barber, the team is going to put Young back in and try a new brand of basketball,
"Tristan has given us some flexibility in our lineup. He's only 6'9, but we're gonna start him at center beside Thaddeus (Young, 6'8") and Jeff (Green, 6'9"). We're playing small-ball in Utah now, and I think it is really going to be exciting for the fans. You're gonna see a lot of running and a lot of passing in our lineup. We have five guys who can stretch the floor, so expect an up-and-down type of game."

Nice pickup, lots of potential.
And a 7'2 wingspan to make up for those 2 inches he's lacking at the C position.
