I've looked over both players in depth. While I think Ersan's season #'s are not representative of his real talent (that goes for both of the last 2 seasons), it is also possible that he just is very streaky and may continue to have these ups and down.
I tend to think that if you look at his splits by month you can see that, with increased minutes, production has risen almost linearly. The month of February he got about 32mpg, 15 points, 7.6 rebounds, shot 45.9% from 3, and 52.9% from the field...over a steal a game, and almost a block per game. Yes, that's just one month, but he's shown this talent before, and I think he'll settle into something around that, probably more int he upper 40's for his FG%.
Anyway, while I think Ersan is a MUCH better player than Channing (stats all fell the last 3 seasons, now has a heart issue to add in to this), there is not quite enough hard evidence to reject the deal.
I'll accept, Miami, congrats, you win out big in this IMO, but just can't find quite enough to reject it.
