Indiana Trades: 77 Seth Curry $1,000,000 $1,000,000 73 Maurice Harkless $8,406,000 $9,221,615 $10,037,230 Kevin Seraphin $2,000,000 $11,406,000
Los Angeles Trades: 78 Tyson Chandler $13,000,000 $13,000,000 $13,000,000
$11,406,000 x 125% = $14,257,500
I accept. I have to trade Curry, but I get Chandler, a defensive player and a larger expiring contract for next season, to put beside Beverly and Aminu. I think this fits into my plan. I have a plan and am trying to stick it, and to build a new culture in Indiana. I know that I am not able to tank like a few of the teams in the league, however I feel working to get a better draft pick to pair with Portis and Allen is what is needed with my team. Hopefully the lottery balls will bounce my way and I can get a better draft pick. I have too many decent pieces already, Gallinari and Young, who score with ease, to fully go Tank Mode. This clears a big chunk of money off of my salary in 2 offseasons.

The amount of trades going on is nuts. I can't remember a time where the trade block has been this active before.

The Harkless contract really sucks. But my goal is to maximize money this summer. Hood and Warren will be getting new contracts in 19 which will take up my cap space. Therefore, freeing up the money this summer is important. This trade frees up almost $4m for me this summer which is big, even though it'll cost me the following summer. It's basically getting a loan with really bad interest.
I really like Curry's game. His year last year showed so much promise and I believe it was underappreciated on many levels. He shot 42.5% on 3 on 4.6 attempts per game. He's an unrestricted free agent in real life this summer. If he goes to a contender who have other play makers I believe he can be a 50/40/90 guy.
I accept.

Harmless is good and still has value. Seth is bleh guard #45. Chandler has a terrible contract. Good trade Mark.

Larry Bird baffling me with this deal, not sure what he gains when a few weeks ago he was "tanking"?

Ian, I am still tanking, well trying to the best I can when I have Gallinari and Nick Young going off each game. Isnt Gallinari hurt again, by the way? Chandler and his contract fit into my salary schedule a lot more than Harkless does. I am still tanking, and this helps improve my overall tank. It's not just a one year plan.

Yea, I've had some chats with Larry, I think this fits into his plan. I love that he seemingly has a plan now, and this fits in it. He is not in uber-tank mode, there are so many of those already and he has too many pieces that are decent (compared to some of the super-uber-monster tankers), but this clears a big chunk of money off of his cap in 2 offseasons.
I do wish he would have said that and not a justification about getting a defensive player to put next to his other defensive players (which is sort of a win-now mindset) but I think all-told that Larry is still on the right track and clearing that money is great.

In my mind, Walt hits it on the head.
I am working to bring a lot of expiring contracts in for next offseason. Currently, I have Gallinari, Beverly, Parsons, and Harkless as large contracts on my salary in three years. I see Gallinari and Beverly as serviceable pieces. This allows me to take on Chandler's contract for next season, and then not have the additional salary the following season.
