Why is Miami doing this? Conley is much better than Dragic and he gives up Lin Yeah I was thinking the opposite, at least Dragic is healthy, and the difference between them isn't that much, and then you consider the 4-6 million price difference ...

I accept. I’m actually a bit confused by what’s going on here. Troy and I have been discussing a Lin trade, but Troy wanted a 2nd rounder whereas I was just willing to take him for free. But then Mark Price messaged me asking if I would take Lin if I got a 2nd, so of course I said yes. But then I guess Troy caught wind and I ended up dumping Lance Thomas for my troubles. It’s also a bit confusing to me because I would rather have Lin on his contract than either of the other two point guards being traded here. But I’m just going with the flow on this one. I also like this trade because it helps me with a very unique brand of tanking that Brian Scalabrine is secretly pioneering over in New Orleans. I won’t reveal industry secrets (and I legitimately think it would cause some chaos), but I have a feeling he will immediately see what I’m talking about.

Mike Conley last season: 20, 6 , 3.5 on 60% TS with elite defense Goran Dragic this season: 17, 5 , 4 on 53% TS with average to below average defense Dragic is gonna get stockwatched down soon, he's declining. Conley has injury concerns but he's just a better player plain and simple.

I want to move on from the Dragic contract. I tried to find someone to just eat the contract, but I couldn't get any value at all if I did that. Getting a guard as good as Conley was the best I can do even though he's on the backend of his career and coming off an injury.
I've always been a huge Mike Conley fan since college. I love the way he plays and I believe he way undervalued. Him being out for the season is great for me as well. I'm not trying to win this year, but considering I don't have my pick next year I need to compete then. I need to do a quick tanking of sorts. Conley helps me do that. I also believe Conley will have a resurgence next year as he will be paired in real life alongside an amazing rookie like Jackson, Baghley, Ayton, or Donic.
I'm sorry for the confusion JB. I blame Troy for that. That's a discussion for another time.
I accept.

I accept. if i can trade Thompson in another deal i will have 30+ million in cap space this summer. I'll be competitive this year and at the same time "Someone" will comeback to Miami Heat this offseason.

Troy is trying to win now and clear space this move helps him do both. He's also hedging his bets a little with this move. I obviously agree with you and I like Conley more. That's why I made the trade. But, Troy does have a good reason for making this trade and it does help his goals.

Constantly trading to shake up primacy, and in your case, after a win? Legitimately curious. Also would like to point out that Pelicans have but 9 players currently playing on their roster. Should be illegal.

Should be illegal. I legit have no clue what Josh is talking about. I'm just trading away vets who wouldn't help me on my next contending team. I also really want cap space. It's just that simple. Also take it up with Ian if you want the rule changed. It only says 12 players, I can't control who's injured

I'm not sure why the Lakers want to do this. Dragic is pretty much comparable to Conley but on a smaller contract and younger so... I'm a bit stumped there.
I will accept though.

Dragic is almost 32 and his numbers are declining. By the time the contract runs out he'll be 36 and rated in the mid to low 70s. I had to move on from that contract now before it was too late. Conley is younger and had the best year of his career in 17 before missing most of this season. I expect him to make a full recovery and be great on a revamped Grizzlies team. Memphis will have a top pick in the draft. A guy like Ayton or Bagley can extend Conley's prime. I would've liked to dump Dragic's salary completely, but I couldn't find a deal that made sense for both sides.
