Troy and I thought we would keep the trading frenzy up a little longer Brooklyn Nets Send:79 Jeremy Lin - $13,000,000 - $13,000,000 - $13,000,000 76 Austin Rivers - $3,837,035 - $4,259,109 - $4,727,611 68 Zhou Qi - $562,800 - $725,600 - $888,400 Contract of JaVale McGee - $11,011,194 Total: $28,411,029 Miami Heat Send:78 Dwyane Wade - $32,000,000 - $35,000,000 - $38,000,00071 James Jones - $815,615 MIA 2021 1st Total: $32,815,615 I accept. Troy gets some decent value in Lin, Zhou, and Austin Rivers, who is on one of the most favorable contracts in the league, and also gets rid of Wade's massive contract at the price of his 2021 1st. For us, we obviously pick up the 1st rounder at the price of Wade as I try to re-accumulate some assets after losing years of work in the Kristaps trade.

Given the effort I expended trying to get a 2nd Rounder out of Troy for our deal it bemuses me why a 1st is involved in this deal. DWade's just turned 36. His contract ends this year in Miami IRL, he's earning like $2mil. He's averaging 7.0ppg. He might retire this year. Either way it's most likely a gigantic contract that will expire before Brooklyn needs to care about it AND he gets a 1st. Lin, Rivers, Kanter and Adams will be Miami's core if both their deals get accepted. So you're looking at a late-lottery, low-seed-playoff team, so that's where the pick can be predicted to be right now. Jeremy Lin is just fodder for mediocrity. Zhou Qi and Javale McGee's contract are salary filler. Which is of course the reason why there's an Austin Rivers stock watch thread just been posted If DWade's still playing when he's 39 and Josh has to swallow that massive final year then the deal is bad for him. Otherwise, bravo Josh! edit: on balance I am willing to accept

You have Adams bird rights, yes you can. Plus like Ian said, Wade may retire after this year and his contract would come off your team. Outside of that, trade doesn't bother me at all.

How do we have a GM that doesn't know about Bird Rights? What i mean is that it will be very hard to negotiate with the aging D-Wade on the roster.

How do we have a GM that doesn't know about Bird Rights? To be fair, he may be talking about either roster construction/convincing in FA Negotiations OR he's looking forward and planning with the new Hard Cap in mind.
