We need to clarify, there was a previous report leaked, which ended up being based on false intel. Boban will, in fact, be signing with the Washington Wizards!
We had 4 total teams offer on Boban, though one balked a little at the price tag the other 3 were willing to pay, so we were down to 3 suitors. The money ended up being practically the same, and the contract structure, too. One of the teams was the first of these 3 to offer, and was the first to increase his offer, and the first to add the Player Option in year 4.
With playing time also being relatively similar between our final two teams (at this point we have eliminated Chicago, as PT is harder to come by there), Boban ultimately went with the team who had showed just a little more commitment and faith in Boban, over Cleveland who came in a VERY close 2nd.
Contract:
Year 1: $7,000,000 Year 2: $7,000,000 Year 3: $7,000,000 Year 4: $7,000,000 (Player Option)

Oh Kareem, I want one of your 1st round picks to take Boban's contract! This is basically the contract he got IRL. 7M a year is the same. This is just happening a year later and for a year more, but it's not that bad. It's not even as much as the MLE. It's equivalent of a 4.5-5M a year deal before the cap went way up.

In fact, in this landscape of the NBA, they get like 15-20 million or even the "max". Which is what's wrong with the max contract in the first place. Not that I disagree with having the max, but at some point a player like Drummond and a player like Karl Towns are going to get the same exact contract, both "max", even though they're very different impact players. Anyway, this is a contract for a bench player who plays 15-20 minutes a game, really.
