Dion got offers later in the process from teams better positioned to compete, but we ultimately chose to go with a team that made him feel like he was a priority in the Suns. He'll be the Suns' starting SG for the meantime, and has been told he'd be a primary scoring option.

We also considered the Rockets but ultimately decided otherwise when we considered how late they came into the process - asking Dion to wait on another decision made him realize that he wasn't as big a priority as he was to the Suns and the other involved team.

The Pacers also came into the chase early, but were only able to offer the full MLE - Larry and the Pacers did make Dion feel like a priority, but the difference in money was just too much to overlook.

Sorry I did not bid on you, Dion, but the acquisition of Oladipo sort of made you expendable. Besides, I could not have offered you that much money anyways. I wish you the best of luck to you in Phoenix, and remember only you can help the Pistons get the #1 pick next year!
