Brian Scalabrine, Hanamichi Sakuragi, and 2 more like this

Andre has decided to go to Sacramento! At one point, we had 5 teams come after him, however, one of those teams was eliminated almost immediately (late into the bidding and a clearly less-desirable circumstance overall) and another team eventually pulled their offer.
That left us with 3, and again, when comparing teams, it became relatively (none of this stuff is really very easy, I hate letting people know they lose out) clear that 2 of the teams had an advantage over the 3rd in pursuit of Andre. I've already let that 3rd place team know a while ago, so there is no shock there.
Then we were down to the Lakers and the Kings.
The Lakers are the team that Andre finished the 2016-17 season on, but he was only there less than one full season. We felt the "loyalty" factor would be limited, if existent at all. We also felt that Andre might want at least a little stability at this point. In our D5 universe, Andre has gone from the Bucks to the Pelicans and now the Lakers. You could argue, well, why not stay in Los Angeles to gain some stability, but, we've seen Magic Johnson make a pretty fair number of moves lately, including moving Vucevic after he acquired Drummond. We felt that offset the additional months of stability Andre would gain by staying there.
This was about the future, most of all. Andre is still a pretty young player. His choices were the following:
KINGS
Damian Lillard - (Free Agent SG?) - KCP - Otto Porter/Thad Young - Andre Drummond
Porter/Thad - LeVert - Len - Hawes - Baker - Splitter - Dwayne Bacon - Tyler Dorsey
or
LAKERS
Kemba Walker - Goran Dragic - Harrison Barnes - Chris McCullough - Andre Drummond
Jason Thompson - Aaron Brooks - Reggie Bullock - KJ McDaniels - Anthony Tolliver - Bryn Forbes
While the Goran Dragic signing certainly helped Los Angeles' talent level, we feel Damian Lillard is the best player on either team above. And, his age lines up closer with Andre than Goran, especially. Who, might just be the best player on LA. Kemba & Damian are the same age I think, but Damian is the far superior player. Sacramento's depth and talent are all superior, overall, on the bench and the rest of the starting lineup. And, Sacramento is younger overall.
Next, though this played a minor role, I personally feel Andre's personality meshes better with Damian and the rest of Sacramento's team than with that of the Lakers' team.
And lastly, Chauncey's effort level here to sign Andre was actually more than anyone put into Jokic, or into Paul George. We've got loads and loads of PMs and even a few brief chats (very brief) in the Chatango app on the boards. It was impressive and a concerted effort to get one of his favorite players onto his team, and that does matter a little.
All told, pretty much everything here leaned at least slightly towards Sacramento, if not heavily, and I just felt it was the right choice to make at the end of the day.
Andre is signing the following contract with the Kings: 1,857,994
Year 1: $24,773,250
Year 2: $26,631,244
Year 3: $28,489,238
Year 4: $30,347,232 (Player Option)
Total: $110,240,964
Congratulations to Chauncey Billups and the Sacramento Kings franchise!
