Celtics send: Jonathon Simmons - $6,521,492 - $6,362,431 - $6,208,250
Celtics receive: #57
Cavaliers send: #57
Cavaliers receive: Jonathon Simmons - $6,521,492 - $6,362,431 - $6,208,250
When my #35 and #47 picks were approaching this year I panicked because, being away from home this week with no wifi, I didn't have the time to make my usual obsessively informed decision and nobody had stood out for me enough to make a decision. Cue the stupid moment that I accepted Jonathon Simmons (and his contract) from the Kings instead of just picking two players I at least preferred. Even though I may have lost one or two trades since restarting D5 in 2012 I've nevertheless never made a trade I regretted until now. This trade is an attempt to at least pretend like the 2nd Round of this year's Draft didn't happen for my team. Moving house came at the worst possible time for me this year.
Even though Simmons is a great young player I'd rather keep my team on the straight and narrow without him. I feel like I lost a level of control over my roster when I made the trade with the Kings, and although this deal doesn't net me anywhere near Simmons's real value it does at least correct the first decision I've ever regretted so far in D5!

Maybe I'm sleeping on Simmons but I think he's just a solid role player on a fairly accurate contract. Not enough here to reject, certainly, even though the value of 35 & 47 or whatever it was compared to just 57 is clearly quite different.
I'll accept.

The I've only lost 2 trades in 5 years part. I wonder if that statistic is actually true or not. You'd think that if he honestly hasn't lost more than two trades in the last five years his team would be a little better than it is, eh?

I have a theory.. I think Ben was the real reason why Ian traded Jonathon right away..
