Apologies for the lack of formatting I'm on my mobile whilst moving house todayCeltics send: #35 #47 Celtics receive: Jonathan Simmons - $6,521,492 - $6,362,431 - $6,208,250 Kings send: Jonathan Simmons - $6,521,492 - $6,362,431 - $6,208,250 Kings receive: #35 #47 Celtics have the cap space for Simmons's contract. At first I thought this deal was ripping off the Kings but perhaps not if you can see what he will do with the cap space, most of the best teams do not have a load of space this year and the Kings could be major players. I'm happy to make the trade because there's nobody I'm really excited about targeting with these two picks particularly, and my team only has so many roster spots remaining.

I accept. We need the cap space. I think this trade is fair considering the circumstances. We are supposed to show commitment to the free agents that we are pursuing and here it is! Take note player agents, I'm serious about bringing those players to Sacramento. They'll be treated like Kings here!

We will see, eh. Don't start with me. Why don't you wait for a bigger sample size before you rush to judgement? I watched Simmons throughout the entirety of the playoffs. Although he was impressive, his regular season numbers are not. This trade clears up the necessary cap space to pursue the free agents that I want.

Good luck getting good free agents by just clearing cap space. Your team isn't a destination for any good free agents, giving up assets for a pipe dream that they will sign with you isn't a good idea. It's like if I traded whiteside right now so that would prove to Jokic that I'm committed to him... But I guess maybe you'll get lucky or you'll learn the hard way. We all have

My main point is legit though, and I'm only trying to help. There are many instances of people selling short on their guys to prove something to a PA and then that team will be trash because now they have nothing. Obviously Simmons is no whiteside, but now your team looks even worse, and there is no shortage of better landing spots out there for whoever you are trying to sign. Free agency is a fickle beast and Lilliard isn't enough to attract anyone to your shit team (see every other offseason for you team) and you shouldn't give up assets to try to lure someone that isn't gonna come. Maybe a PA will feel sorry for you, or you'll horribly overpay, but I'm not wrong, I'm just telling you how it's always been.

Simmons had a good year but he didnt just give him away for free, he also got 2 decent 2nd rounder. If he can get Dame back which he should, he has cap space to get someone to help

I missed out on Dwight Howard which forced me to overpay for Josh Smith.

Jonathon Simmons regular season numbers:
6.2 pts, 1.6 asts, 2.1 rebs and a 9.91 PER.
Yeah, I'm not worried about taking this risk to land some solid free agents. Also, looking at past Sacramento off season failures doesn't mean anything because those GMs weren't as good as I am. Apples and oranges. Just because you don't have big hopes for you team doesn't mean I shouldn't have big hopes for mine.
Oh, and your credibility is more shit because you made an analogy while driving.

For some reason I find that hard to believe.
Anyways... to answer your question, I never said what I was receiving was better than Simmons. It shows "commitment" by me taking this risk. That likelihood of me drafting a player of Simmons talent is very slim. I said that this trade is fair given the circumstances. It allows me to shed some cap space in order to pursue better free agents.. Of course there is some risk involved, but I'm not going to idly stand by and not try. Worst case scenario is I just gained 6 mil in cap space.

Really? That's pretty cool. Every time I think about an autonomous car I think of Jared on Silicon Valley getting kidnapped and shipped to an island of robots hahah. Yeah, I'm writing the code that lets the spinny thing (velodyne LiDar) on top see road signs.

There's no reason to give up a backup player to show commitment. Unless you're trying to sign a backup player, lol. DeAndre Jordon would never come play with me because of Whiteside, so if I wanted to sign him I'd need to trade Whiteside to "show commitment". If you're trying to sign like DeMar Derozan, or whatever great SG/SF you need to clear cap space for, I 100% guarantee that you having Jonathon Simmons wouldn't mean shit to the PA when it comes to "showing commitment". Simmons obviously would never start or take minutes from a player that could make your team much better. Unless of course you (or the PA) thinks he is really good. But you think he sucks... sooo... The clearing cap argument is fine, and makes sense. Obviously clear cap so you can sign people, but having to give up a "backup" GF to "show commitment" to a free agent makes me really wondering where you got that idea that you needed to move him. Unless you're trying to sign some backup player, it really doesn't compute imo.

I moved a valuable player on my team in order to clear enough cap space to sign my targeted free agents. And I never once said that I think Jonathon Simmons sucks. How many times do I have to repeat myself for you to get it? Or are you just hell bent on having the last word? I said given the circumstances, I think this trade is fair. I think Jonathon Simmons IS more valuable than two 2nd round picks, but I traded him in order to clear cap space so that I can sign more valuable players. That's where the risk lies; I'm not guaranteed a signing, but I'm willing to take that risk. He's one of the few players on my team that has a contract like that, and that I am willing to move in a trade. Just because you can't see that doesn't mean nobody else does. You clearly think linear with most things. Go take your weak arguments somewhere else. The last word can be yours considering you want it. I'm done here.

You said: And I'm letting you know how that doesn't make any sense or apply to this trade at all unless you're trying to tell a backup SG/SF that he needs to come to Sacramento and he was waivering.

I am a better GM than you could ever dream of being. While I was trying to be nice because you are new, you really need to learn your place and quit being so annoying. If anything, this trade tells Lillard "hey, I am rebuilding!" I doubt you could resign him anyways, but I think he is gone for sure now. Oh, and I take back what I said about wanting him to resign with the Kings; I hope he leaves you which will end the last remnants of the Vlade Divac era in Sacramento....well other than Nemanja Dangubic.

For the record, I don't think this trade is rejectable. Just a bad one for Sacramento based on his stated reasoning. He could clear 8m in cap space much cheaper and getting rid of a worse player. The reason he chose Simmons and got paid so little is because of an idea that he needs to move Simmons to "prove his commitment". I just hope someone else didn't tell him that, because as I've lined out above it doesn't make any sense.

1 week probationary period? Josh has a point with this first reply. Also I feel like this trade has been a bit of a mess because I've been without internet and struggling to keep up with league administration at such a critical time. It's really bad timing and I apologise. Since Alex and Bryan also expressed their concerns I'm very tempted to reject the trade, although that's not within my power according to the rules since I posted it, so maybe you trade committee guys could do it for me, but it's up to you. If this trade doesn't sit right with you guys please don't hesitate to reject it, but we need some verdicts.
