Phoenix trades
80 Thaddeus Young $17,500,000 $19,085,000 $20,954,350 $21,126,089
Sacramento trades
74 Trey Lyles $1,760,400 $1,836,200 $2,719,412 $3,782,702 69 Malik Beasley $1,310,300 $1,369,200 $1,428,200 $2,199,428 $3,136,384 total 3,070,700
I accept, Thad Young is good but not in our future plans. The Suns are going into a rebuilding stage and this is move #1. Cutting salary was huge in this too. We save 15 million in this deal. Trey Lyles has also intrigued me this season on a young up and coming Jazz team Sac is well under the cap so this trade is legal

The Sacramento Kings accept for multiple reasons. I had previously stated on my “Trading Block” that I am looking for a starting caliber PF. Thad Young provides this, and more.
Damian Lillard becomes a free agent at the end of the season. The Sacramento Kings desire to demonstrate to Dame that we are willing to build a stronger team now. Trey Lyles starting at my Power Forward spot was a not in my long term plan, as he neither produced nor demonstrated potential superior to Thad Young for the future. Thad Young will produce immediately, and help seal up my weakest position.
This does mean, permitting the passing of this trade, that I will not be actively trying to tank for the remainder of the season. This is also okay. I will end up with a decent pick and retain the 2018 Dallas 1st round pick, which has potential. My tank wasn't going that well either way as I have been winning a few more games since lineup changes were made.
Malik Beasley was not getting any playing time on my team anyway, so I have no issue dealing him at this time.
Salary Cap wise, the Sacramento Kings still maintain flexibility. We retain the space to offer Damian Lillard a max contract at the end of the season. Even after that max-deal, we have space to sign other players to bolster our lineup.
The Sacramento Kings starting lineup will now be as follows:
Damian Lillard - Caris Levert - Otto Porter - Thad Young - Spencer Hawes

I'll accept.
Makes sense for Phoenix to want to dump contracts for youth, makes sense for the Kings to add more ready contributors to convince Lillard to stay.

This is the worst trade deal in the history of trade deals. how come? Because 17 million for a guy who averages 11 points a game is dumb. I'd rather pay Trey Lyles $1,760,000 and Malik Beasley $1,310,300 to kind of suck while waiting to see if they develop than pay Thaddeus Young 17 million who is a meh starter/role player type player. I get why you're doing it and hope you have success in retaining Lillard.

Honestly, I think this trade, value for value, is fair.
Thad is overpaid in what we think is proper payment, but with the way things are now, this is actually a semi-decent deal.
With that being said, I think there's some risk here for SAC, because if they don't resign Lillard, they have just sold a decent young prospect for no reason, but I think it is a risk that has to be taken.

This is my mindset. It is a risk to release Lyles, but a risk that pays off if Damian stays. For what it is worth, the original trade proposition included Caris LeVert, a prospect I was unwilling to move.
