It's not very surprising imo. The ACA was the compromise, the goal was universal healthcare. The ACA was basically Mitt Romney's plan from Massachusetts. So the Republicans spent 7 years ripping on Obama and this plan without ever actually considering their own proposal. Now they actually get in power and they don't know what to do. They're a party of opposition, they just hate and oppose the democrats, and the government in general. Less regulation, less taxes, less government. So of course they can't agree on how to create a policy that actually tries to solve a problem. For half of them the correct answer to that is "no policy at all, repeal all regulation". They're like a dog chasing cars, and now they finally caught one, but they don't know what to do about it.

Paul Ryan basically just straight up said it:
What a joke. The Republicans are an embarrassment. They're too incompetent to govern because they've just spent nearly the last decade only saying "no". It's like a child throwing a tantrum suddenly switched places with their parents and now they've got no clue about what they're supposed to do.

Apparently the GOP isn't touching healthcare now until the midterms. I wonder how their base is going to feel about that.

Their base didn't even know the ACA and Obamacare was the same thing. Half the poor dipshits that voted for Trump have insurance through the ACA.

I think it will end up being good in the long run.
