I thought it would be cool to make a predictions thread and revisit it, this time next year. Players I'm High OnAnthony Davis Bradley Beal Harrison Barnes Jeremy Lamb Players I think will probably do wellThomas Robinson Austin Rivers Jared Sullinger Dion Waiters (if he can stay healthy) Players I think got drafted too highMichael Kidd-Gilchrist PredictionsI think Harrison Barnes will be a Glenn Robinson, Glen Rice type player. All Star calibre but never lead his team to a championship. I feel as if Anthony Davis might be injury prone, with his ridiculously long limbs and lack of bulk. But I feel like he could bulk out, throughout his career, and become a bit of beast like KG but with a less polished offensive game. Bradley Beal reminds me of Mitch Richmond or Eric Gordon imho. A solid pickup but not a superstar like DWade or anything. Jeremy Lamb is like Reggie Miller with more athleticism. I feel like he could either be a legend or get stuck behind Kevin Martin in Houston's rotation. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist reminds me of Laphonso Ellis in the early 1990s, if anyone remembers him (I doubt it, lol). I just don't see him excelling. Andre Drummond is pure potential. Could be a beast, could be Hasheem Thabeet. 2012 Draft Order Anthony Davis Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Bradley Beal Dion Waiters Thomas Robinson Damian Lillard Harrison Barnes Terrence Ross Andre Drummond Austin Rivers Meyers Leonard Jeremy Lamb Kendall Marshall John Henson Moe Harkless Royce White Tyler Zeller Terrence Jones Andrew Nicholson Evan Fournier Jared Sullinger Fab Melo John Jenkins Jared Cunningham Tony Wroten Miles Plumlee Arnett Moultrie Perry Jones Marquis Teague Festus Ezeli

I'm not going to pretend that I know a lot about these guys, but I do have a few opinions.
-Still think that Cleveland had another case of jumping the gun on a prospect. Waiters at 4, like Thompson at 4, IMO, decent player - but at #4? They could have done better.
-I really think Detroit was the perfect team to take a gamble on Drummond as, if he Booms then they've got some to pair with Greg Monroe. If he's a bust, then at least they still have Greg Monroe.
-I'm really interested in Fournier, just because of how much better Beaubois and Seraphin were than expected. Neither are exactly stars atm, but they're solid rotation players that produce above-average numbers given minutes. Definitely going to be watching for French prospects in later drafts as well.
-Aaaand as a Mavs Fan, I really don't know anything about Dante Cunningham but am really high on Jae Crowder. Really hope he turns out into a Mini-Marion.

First I'll say a couple of quick things about my fav team's draft picks
DJO - Same as Goudelock but I think much better (faced competition in Big East very strong conference) has a chance to stick with team
Sacre - Josh McRoberts 2.0 but much more serviceable
Players that I am really high on
Anthony Davis Bradley Beal Jared Sullinger Perry Jones Austin Rivers Andre Drummond
Players that will do well
Harrison Barnes Thomas Robinson Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Arnett Moultrie Jeremy Lamb
Players with question marks Royce White Terrence Jones Terrence Ross Andre Drummond Perry Jones
Players with serious bust potential
Dion Waiters John Henson Royce White Evan Fournier
Players that are unsung hero of the draft
Draymond Green Quincy Miller Doron Lamb
I'll post a bigger more thorough post once I get back to the USA in a couple of days (25th or 26th).

MKG is the best player on the draft IMO
Anthony Davis will do well, but will disappoint a lot of people.
Harrison Barnes is great.
Jeremy Lamb was a steal.

I should add: Terrence Ross I see as being like Ronnie Brewer. Very athletic, not bad defensively, but not polished enough offensively. Ironically he's kinda like Demar Derozan, who Toronto already have.

This will be really cool to come back in a year or two and see how far off we are. Here are my predictions:
- Anthony Davis is as advertised.
- Damian Lillard is the second best player in the draft. I've been on the Lillard bandwagon pretty much from the begining of the workout process and he's only made me want to double down based on his summer league performance. I think he'll average 20+ points and 7+ assists in his prime.
- Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is Gerald Wallace in his prime. He's already Charlotte's best player but he isn't a guy who'll be able to carry a team because he is not a natural scorer.
- Jeremy Lamb is one dimentional. All he can do is score, he might average about 15-20 ppg but he'll also only put up like 3-4 rebounds and 2-3 assists per game.
- Austin Rivers was the worst pick in the draft. Not necesarily due to talent but style. Pairing him with Davis is stupid. He is like Jeremy Lamb but much worse. Rivers as a point guard will fail miserably as he'll never average more than 5 assists per game. He is a combo guard who if he is lucky his career will turn out like Jamal Crawford or Leandro Barbosa. I don't think he is that good though and he is a volume shooter, his career FG% will be high 30s to low 40s. I'm not a fan.
- Terrence Jones was one of the best picks at 18. He is Lamar Odom 2.0 but not as good of a ball handler/playmaker. He is a good combo forward who has all-star potential.
- Thomas Robinson had a bad summer league but will still be a very good player. I think he'll be like Paul Millsap in style but a little bit worse of a scorer. Better rebounder though.
- Jared Sullinger was also a great pick. After a few years behind Kevin Garnett he will become Boston's power forward of the future. I hope his back issue was overblown otherwise he might end up like Brandon Roy.
- Bradley Beal will be an all-star calibre two guard. Nothing spacial though, good #2 option, great #3.
- Andre Drummond is an enigma. Could be a poor man's Dwight Howard or he could be Kwame Brown. I'll go somewhere in the middle. He'll put up 13-15 point and 7-9 boards in his prime.
- Terrence Ross will push DeRozan to the 3, if he can't play at the 3 he'll push DeRozan out of Toronto. Maybe he can bulk up and play the 3 himself but there is not enough room for both of them in Toronto unless they learn to play together.
- Harrison Barnes will be like Dorell Wright that year he went off. He'll average like 15-17 points and 5-6 rebounds. He isn't as good of a rebounder as he should be though.
Okay this is getting pretty long. Apart from the guys above...
Good Picks: John Henson Royce White Andrew Nicholson Jae Crowder Perry Jones (if he ever puts it together, low risk at 28 though) Darius Miller
Bad Picks: Dion Waiters (will be alright, not a top 5 talent though) Austin Rivers (listing him twice because I guarentee he will not be in New Orleans in five years) Kendall Marshall (he can't score for shit, he's not a threat when he can't draw defences to him to make a play)
Steals of the Draft: Tyler Zeller Will Barton Kyle O'Quinn

OK it's now October, we had this discussion in July.
My original post (in white), amendments in [red]red[/red]: Players I'm High On Anthony Davis Bradley Beal Harrison Barnes - haven't seen much from him in the pre-season, but I'm still high on him.
Jeremy Lamb [red]Damian Lillard[/red] - Denver totally called it, Lillard is amazing. Mo Williams/Jameer Nelson level at a minimum.
Players I think will probably do well Thomas Robinson Austin Rivers Jared Sullinger [red]Andre Drummond[/red] - I reckon he'll be a All Star at max, probably just borderline all star, but he's definitely not a bust. [red]Jeremy Lamb[/red] - Lamb will be a very good player, but like a Jamal Crawford at max imho. [red]Perry Jones[/red] - this guy could be an All Star for sure.
Players I think got drafted too high Michael Kidd-Gilchrist - I still think he's not going to be special. Kinda like a Marvin Williams type guy.

I've been a little surprised with Drummond. He doesn't seem to have that much talent but he'll probably be able to put up like 10 and 7 due to his athleticism alone. If he has a good work ethic and can develop some skill over the next few years he has All-Star potential.
So far it looks like I'm right about Rivers too. It only preseason but in 5 games he is averaging 30 mpg, 9.0 ppg 3.6 rpg, 1.6 apg and a 29% field goal percentage. That's pretty awful, especially the 1.6 assists for a guy who is supposed to play some point guard. I don't see how he can have a ceiling higher than a Jamal Crawford or Jason Terry type guy, but he also has a lot of bust potential.

Andre Drummond is THE TRUTH. The Pistons will have the best frontcourt in the league 3 years from now..

To me Andre Drummond is the highest risk for being a bust but also the highest potential to be the 2nd best player in the draft. If he has his head (and heart) in the right place he could be a Dwight Howard lite but if he doesn't stay focused and put in the effort he'll be the next Kwame Brown. As for Michael Kidd-Gilchrist he doesn't have a very high ceiling but he has a very high floor, even if he doesn't reach his full potential he'll still be a decent player which makes him a safe pick.
