Klay Thompson would like to formally announce that he is returning to the Golden State Warriors! The contract is as follows:
Year 1: $23,500,000
Year 2: $26,085,000
Year 3: $28,954,350
Year 4: $32,139,328
Year 5: $35,674,654
Year 6: $39,598,865 (Player Option)
Total: $185,952,197
There were some very good offers out there, and most focused on Klay getting the opportunity to have his own team. However, Chris Mullin and the Golden State Warriors have been dedicated from the first moment of FA and gave Klay no reason to leave. Real-Life Klay also was a big recruiter for Kevin Durant, which shows he cared more about winning than about how many shots he takes. Considering our D5 Warriors have the most wins each of the last 3 seasons, including a D5 Championship and 3 straight Western Conference Finals appearances, the choice became clear and not very difficult overall.
