Indiana Trades: 79 Wesley Matthews $12,204,955 $13,059,302 $13,973,452 $14,951,595 81 Marcin Gortat $11,743,242 $12,103,000 $23,948,197
Portland Trades: 83 Tim Duncan $9,867,457 1st 2017 Portland 2nd 2017 Golden State $9,867,457
I accept. I trade Gortat for Duncan. I really like Duncan and always have. Gortat is younger, but I think Duncan can still be a good addition to the team. I trade Matthews for a 1st and 2nd in the 2017 draft.

those are both one year rentals so you know. Decent if you are trying to win this year though.

I accept.. I need to fill my roster so that I could resign Kyrie.. Wesley Matthews will be a very good addition and could complement with Kyrie well.. I like his 3pt shooting and his defense. Gortat on the other hand is a reliable Center that will also compliment well to Ryan Anderson. It's hard to trade Duncan cause he have helped this team to have a championship. but I don't want to lose Kyrie.

Well, will he be retired from this coming season or the next season in the game? I thought since the retired players had already been announced Duncan would come off next season. B Roy and I discussed a deal with just Matthews, and could probably revisit that if Ian Ian Noble confirms Duncan would be removed for the 2016-17 season.

We're waiting on his decision.

So, if he retires IRL, he retires here as well.

I would like to bring Duncan to Indiana.
The thing is, if Duncan retires tomorrow I have cap I can use to sign a free agent. If say Duncan takes 2 to 3 months to officially retire, I miss free agency. I miss getting a center coming to replace Gortat. I basically traded Gortat and Matthews for a 2017 1st and 2nd.

Let's go with a yes and hope Duncan wants to play with Gasol.

Hrmm. So, Matthews and Gortat are probably 1-year guys, with the money out there now those are semi-bargain deals so they really might opt out at least to get more money.
So, all one-year rental types, possibly. Mathews and Gortat for Duncan & Portland's 1st next year.
I guess it's fine.
Accept.

As long as Larry resolves himself to not trade his 2017 pick I fully support this trade.
For Indy:
Worst case Duncan opts out due to retirement and Larry just cleared cap for basically free.
Pros: For a guy who's traded away a ton of draft picks he did a good job of making sure he has the next three season's firsts available.
His team is ripe for a quality rebuild. Next years draft is fucking stacked. If we got to draft the 2017 class this year Simmons probably goes 6. So he could really benefit from potentially acquiring a quality superstar potential prospect.
Cons: He just gave away two good players purely potential. Hey, shit happens. It's a risk you take I did it, and so have most GMs.
For Portland:
Pros: He's in the midst of a fiercely trying to reacquire his non-bird rights player in Kyrie. Well this team just got better. He trades a potential nothing for something of substance.
Cons: Gives up some future assets and a franchise staple for a while.
Good trade at the right time for both teams.
