Charlotte Hornets - Russell WestbrookYear 1: $28,200,000 Year 2: $31,302,000 Year 3: $34,745,220 Year 4: $38,567,194 Year 5: $42,809,585Russell Westbrook will re-sign with the Charlotte Hornets. They have agreed to a five year contract worth $175,624,000. The final year of the deal is a player option. Russell really only received three offers that he seriously considered, the Hornets along with the Rockets and Lakers. Russell would like to thank Charles Barkley and Magic Johnson for their offers. It ultimately came down to success and winning championships. That's what we're all here to do, and Russell is a champion having just won with the Hornets. So while the other two offers did a good job at selling their teams and cities, they just weren't strong enough to lure Russell away from the team where he just won it all, and should be in a great position to come back and try and repeat next year.

Wow, first time a contract has breached $40m in D5! And he very well may opt out of that to get MORE money.

in fact he should have taken a one and one like KD did to get more money next year if we're trying to be realistic

Yes, winning championships. Such a good place to win one considering a major reason the Hornets beat the Thunder was because of Andrew Wiggins, who was traded away for Brandon Ingram.

This is pretty much the only reason Westbrook considered other offers. But even taking that into account, Charlotte still offered the best chance. Now that he's back Charlotte has another $30 million to improve the team too.
