2016/17 Salary CapThe NBA has announced that the expected salary cap for next season sits at a figure of $94,000,000. Since Off Season Free Agency here at D5 starts before the official announcement on July 6th we will operate using $94,000,000 until the actual figure is released. The announcement also affects: League Maximum Contract Team Hard Cap Make sure you review your team situations accordingly in advance of this year's Off Season Free Agency. UpdatedThe salary cap for 2016/17 will officially be $94,143,000. This figure can now be worked into any contracts that are offered. Max contracts do not need to be updated, Player Agents will assume the offered amount is a maximum contract except where cap rules do not allow. League Maximum Contract Team Hard Cap

I know the salary cap in real life doesn't actually change for teams doing trades and stuff until after the moratorium

So draft trades will have to fit under the previous years salary cap? I think draft day trades in real life are actually handshake deals, and then their legality is checked against the new salary cap. Idc either way, just curious.

I think that this is actually the way it goes. Myself and Adam have all the cap in the world but this distinction can be huge for some of the close to/over the cap teams.

I think draft day trades in real life are actually handshake deals, and then their legality is checked against the new salary cap. Idc either way, just curious. Every year around this time we get a bunch of queued trades using the next year's cap that only get processed once the salary cap advances.
