Current: 84
Suggested: 86
Not a huge increase, but he's been healthy for a full season and is a solidly efficient 20 point scorer. His defense and rebounding are undersold, for sure. The Nets aren't great but it's not like Lopez has much to work with there. Without Brook Lopez the Nets are worse than the Sixers. The guy is damn good.

I'd rather have Dre who I think is getting bumped to an 84. Therefore 83

Lopez has been great since finally being healthy again. I haven't thought of him as deserving a rating boost though. But if we're giving Paul Millsap an 89... Can anyone actually say they believe Millsap is more talented than Lopez? Like if they were traded for each other and Lopez got to play on the Hawks, and Millsap had to play with the sorry lot that make up the Nets, who believes Millsap would perform better?
Under the circumstances I'll give him an 86 too I guess.

I like Lopez, but I really feel like opposing teams let Brook do what he wants and take every other player out of the game. Essentially, teams do to the Nets as the Warriors did to the Cavs in the finals last year.

Yea, I agree with James, and he touched on the point I was going to make in response to Alex. Millsap just does more. Who has the better shot? Who has the better 3pt shot? Who can jump higher? Who runs faster? Who is quicker? Etc, etc. Some of us are voting at least partially while thinking about all the rating points that need to go into each category. Maybe that's a fault of the rating system, that even if Brook is/was better than Millsap, it's really really hard to accurately put the points anywhere that would make a player like him rated higher than a player like Millsap. Gotta go, hope my point at least comes across the.

His highly underrated because the joke about his inability to grab a lot of rebounds is still on the mind of the majority. In the last two seasons, he has upped his per 36 rebs to the 9.
Defense has improve a lot too.

Walt was basically trying to say, that for better or for worse, the people with inside knowledge of the rating system, look at the potential increase and decrease in OVR as points being infused or deducted from the player's attributes.
However, it is really hard to look at it when one does not know the full ratings of players.
I think Brook Lopez is about an 86. Bigs that don't shoot, don't need a high rating. But Brook has a little more of a Post Game than Drummond or DeAndre.
For all that is going on with Drummond, his points are fine. He is a better version of DeAndre Jordan, however, after you've put all the points you can in Rebounding and Dunking, there isn't much left to increase if they don't add another part to their game. Or improve on their post game.
Lopez isn't like Drummond or DeAndre, but he also is as athletic as them either. He still gets more PPG than the two of them. FWIW, I'd rather have Drummond. But, Drummond is going to have the Korver problem soon, there isn't a lot of room left to increase his points. Can only max out Dunk and Rebounding.
Again, we need to quit cross comparing players who don't fit exact type of player each is.

Athleticism isn't nearly as important for a big as it is for a wing/guard.
