Current: 74 Suggested: 80
15 points, 3.8 boards, 2 assists, 1.5 steals. 42.3%; 31.5% from three; 82.3% from the line.
He's a real NBA player now. Starting caliber SG. His 3P% has actually regressed a little, but he is shooting a higher percentage from every other area of the court. Especially FT% which he increased tremendously and gets to the line almost twice as often as he used to. His defense is really solid, too.

I love Barber's in-depth analysis, refuting all of James' crystal clear content.
I think he's definitely not an 80 yet, but he's better than a 74 and a bit better than a 76 too.
78 for me.
I'm curious what happens here, b/c the league as a whole put CJ McCollum at a 78 in one of his first big "breakout" rating boosts, so if he's a 78 I would expect KCP to come in at a 76 or 77 tbh. I was higher on McCollum too though, so I'm just being consistent.

78 in regards to his comp with McCollum I'd say it's because kcp plays lock down d. I'm not certain of McCollum on d but given his size I'd guess he's below kcp.
I'm willing to go higher when kcp improves his %

If we were to rate McCollum again I'd prob vote him for an 82, because his distributing is really good, too.

I'm willing to go higher when kcp improves his % That's a totally fair point, but McCollum destroys KCP on 3PT% which adds up to a couple of OVR points itself. Rebounds are the same, McCollum more than doubles KCP's assist totals too. McCollum higher FG% too. I really tried to pick my words carefully, I'm not saying they're the same exact type of player. I'm just curious what happens here. And I guess there's a little bit of "if KCP comes in around a 79 or 80, I'm really expecting higher ratings on McCollum when he gets another thread" type of thing. But, if we do want to get into it, we can. They're different players though, McCollum seems to be better at everything except D I guess. I know in the game of basketball, defense is half the battle (theoretically), but in our ratings there are a lot more ratings related to offense than defense. And, one of those Defensive stats, Steals, McCollum is at 1.1 and KCP at 1.5, so he won't even get much of an advantage there. Same with blocks (0.2 compared to 0.3). So, we gotta give KCP a pretty nice D-Aware, and then their athletic stats will be different but not monumentally. Passing/Handling/3PT/FG will (theoretically, in a perfect world) need to be higher for McCollum, by a noticeable amount. I just find the ratings somewhat fascinating at times, so it will be interesting to see how this turns out. The only comparison between the two that I'm making is "young player, SG as their position, 'breaking out' to some extent this season". That's all. Though to be fair to James' point, KCP did some of this stuff last year. McCollum just hasn't had a chance before now.
