Current Rating: 88 Suggested Rating: 93 Stats: 26.1 PPG, 7.9 RPG, 4.0 APG, 1.6 SPG, 0.2 BPG, 43.8 FG%, 42.2 3P%, 84.6 FT%, 24.0 PER Somehow the Pacers are good this season, somehow is because Paul George is a beast. He's killing it for Indiana so far and is clearly totally healthy after breaking his leg with team USA. He's been great on offense, including shooting 42% from three, and unlike my other star wing player, Paul George plays defense. In fact PG is amazing at defense. He's a top 5 perimeter defender in the NBA and is currently 10th in Defensive Win Shares. The only perimeter players ahead of him are Kawhi Leonard, who we can all agree is the best perimeter defender in the league, and Jimmy Butler, who is also amazing on defense. Then it's my boy Paul George. He's a complete two way player. Time to get him into the 90s.

I just want to see him continue to do this through the all-star break... then I have no problem giving him a 93.

I love him but I hate his inconsistency in the offensive end. He has 9 games of less than 20 points. That is 1/3 of his total games. When you takeout his two 40+ performance, his numbers will go down to 24 pts, 7.8 rebs and 4.1 asts.
91.

90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 92, 93, 93, 93, 93, 94 = 91.6 = 92
Paul George currently at a 92.

91.6 = 91 (with ratings halfway between a 91 and a 92). At least that is the way it should be, lol.

91.6 = 91 (with ratings halfway between a 91 and a 92). At least that is the way it should be, lol. Literally forever we've done it by rounding to the nearest rating. Same rules as grade school. At .5 you round up. I guess we could start doing that though, it's not a bad idea. We know that about 16 rating points is equal to 1 overall rating point. Guys halfway could get 8 extra points.

Half the league has voted now.
90, 90, 90, 90, 90, 91, 91, 92, 93, 93, 93, 93, 93, 94 = 91.6 = 92

OOOPH. Not to be that guy, but in Paul George's first 22 games (through December 12th, 2015), he averaged
27 points, 8 boards, 4.2 assists, 1.6 steals, 3.5 turnovers shooting 44 FG% and 43 3P%
Since then, in his next 22 games (12/14/2015 - 01/23/2016), he averaged
20 points, 6.4 boards, 3.5 assists, 2.3 steals, 4 turnovers, shooting 38 FG% and 33 3P%
Not really a good look, IMO, to average more turnovers than assists. His shooting percentages have really really fallen off. PG is really good, but he is undeniably streaky. I can't explain it.
Just saying, a 92 seems high. I definitely fell victim to his early hot streak.
Gonna lower my vote from 93 to 90.

I think when we build him though, I might keep a tiny bit of his awareness lower than I might usually, to try to account for some streakiness. Nothing major to get worried about, just a little bit.

His FG% is "bad" for such an elite player, but the reasoning is because he is a volume shooter. No one else on the Pacers can really create besides him and Monta Ellis, and Ellis has fallen off.
PG is great in my opinion, love him. But it is really hard to overlook his 41.2% shooting from the field this season. Beyond that, he is averaging just as many turnovers per game as assists. Other things across the board are up, like his 3PT%, steals, rebounds.
He is not an 88. He does so many things well and I don't think he gets enough credit for those things he does at an All-Star level. I am going to go with a
96

I am actually going to change my rating right quick, I will do it in my original post above this.
I am rated PG13 a 96.
I get that it will be thrown out, and that is dumb.
But here is why he needs to be that high:
When we increase a player, say DeAndre Jordan, its obvious where the points need to go, Dunk, Rebounding, Blocks, Athletic shit, you know, the basics, and we make him really good in those areas, because he is really good in those areas comparatively.
Now, when you have a wing, such as PG13, Kawhi, Giannis, LeBron, Butler, etc, the really all around players, players that do 4+ things at an above average level to their contemporaries, they need more points in those areas as well as athletic stats, plus FG, plus whatever else.
Long story shorter, we in the RC, never have enough points to go around for not just elite wing players but above average wings in the NBA. We are always left saying that there just isn't enough points to go around and I think it is a shame that every time we go in and update someone that we are left saying that. But it is true, and it sucks. I hope that you guys read this and see this. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Edit: I get that Giannis shouldn't be in the category with those guys, but he does a lot of things well right now, and he will get better in the future, and he will need more points, just as all of the 2 way wing players need those points. We are short points, and, truthfully, we need to overrate wings.
Fuck off about the, "well Paul George isn't better than James Harden" shit or whatever. There's a reason why when you go and play NBA 2K some positions are just naturally higher than others. and that is how it needs to be in here with wings.
Throw out your top 10 lists and quit cross comparing players based on their overall. Just because PG13 is a 96 and Harden is a 93, it doesn't mean PG is better. They play two different positions and are two vastly different players.
end rant but im sure this will come up more so in the future.

I'll give PG13 a 92. I'm a huge fan of his game, but I do value Kawhi as the better player - whom I ranked 93.
