Wizards: Nene = $13,000,000 $13,000,000 $13,000,000 $13,000,000 $13,000,000 John Wall = $5,530,080 $5,915,880 $6,674,574 $8,676,946 Total: 18,530,080For Grizzlies : Rudy Gay = $15,032,144 $16,460,538 $17,888,931 $19,317,325 Jason Thompson = $3,001,284 $4,129,767 Total: 18,033,428I accept this trade. Nene has 5 years in his contract and he's already 29. IMO, he's already reached his ceiling. In 2 or 3 years, he'll lose his value so I have decided that as early as now I'll have to deal him. As for John Wall, I will give the Wizards "future", for Rudy Gay, whom others regard as someone who has not lived up with what's expected of him. He's enjoying a superstar's salary but isn't even an All-Star. But why will I take him for Wall? I believe in what Gay can bring to the Wizards. He's still young. I think he still has a lot of potential in him. And I'm planning to rebuild this team around him. As with Thompson, honestly, I'm not his biggest fan. I've seen him play just once so I really cannot say anything about him. But the Wizards will accept him. He's as young as Gay and "maybe" he can improve his game with us. Btw, this will just be my 2nd trade for this season because I hate trading my players. But when I think it's necessary to shake the roster up then I'll do it without hesitation.

Reject. Wall for Gay is close to even value. Thompson is minimal/no value compared to Nene. I realize the contract isn't the best out there but he's been getting better on the injury issues and he's just being tossed in here for free IMO.
There are a lot of people who would much rather have Wall than Gay, especially considering contracts, so this is an easy Reject for me.

Who's going to play PG for the Wizards if this trade goes through?

I have Jordan Crawford to start at PG and Maurice Evans at SG.
Mack will be the back up for now.
And I'm planning to pursue a PG if this trade gets accepted.

I think Minny may be undervaluing Jason Thompson a bit. Thompson's gotten smarter with his shots every year and just really got hit with an injury at a bad time. And since he's an RFA with a team as cheap as the Kings, He might just find a team that's willing to pay and play him. His numbers drop can be directly linked to a minutes drop, but he's been getting them since Paul Westphal left.
Considering the bad contract and injury risk that comes with Nene, Jason Thompson may not be as bad compensation as you think. Of course, Nene is still definitely the more polished big, but if you want to ditch a contract like Nene's, Thompson wouldn't be so bad.
Edit: No big injury history with Thompson. The man's been a rock so far. Westphal just really didn't seem to like this guy.

And I think the whole "Nene injury prone" is being overdone too.
2009 - 77 games 2010 - 82 games 2011 - 75 games
This season he played fewer, but it was a mess of a season and a lot of guys had injuries.
Thompson vs. Nene is WAY further apart than their ratings suggest.
Wall > Gay (a lot of people would agree on this, Wall is 10 mil cheaper per season, younger, and has a ton of potential...Gay has been really good as well but that contract compared to Walls swings this in favor of John Wall)
Nene vs. Thompson really just isn't close for me. The contract is not that bad for a Center of Nene's quality.
Still a reject for me.

I think the ultimate winner of this trade is going to be determined by the development of John Wall. I'll accept.

In the present time this trade neither makes you better nor does it give you cap relief (Gay and Nene have basically the same contract). You downgrade heavily at PG (jordan crawford is not a PG at all) and C while creating a log jam on the wings. It is nice that you are trying to get rid of Nene's terrible contract but now you are paying Rudy Gay superstar money for the next 5 years.
In the future you are now paying Rudy Gay superstar money while losing out one of the best point guard prospects out there.
So its a strong decline from me.
