Jose Calderon has decided to sign with the LA Clippers. The Clippers were the first team to approach Jose and after hearing rumors that he was getting offers increased his total deal to 5 years and over 12.5 million dollars in total contract. They have a clear plan laid out for this season and GM Mike K. was very excited to have Jose and made mention of his teams overall stability. Jose believes that this team has a shot to win the title and winning was something that was very important to him, especially after getting shuffled around the league so much.
5 year - $12,500,000
Year 1 - $1,500,000 Year 2 - $2,000,000 Year 3 - $2,500,000 (player option) Year 4 - $3,000,000 Year 5 - $3,500,000

I'm not too sour on losing out on Jose, but I didn't even get a reply acknowledging the offer . Is the Clippers situation so much better that he'd take it over 9m/3, 6 guaranteed?

I would have gladly increased my offer had it been acknowledged, I did offer more money over the first 2 years than in this contract he accepted. And he wouldn't be battling for the back-up spot with someone like Ridnour.

Welcome to LA Jose!
While we have checked off a lot of boxes in this off-season, a legitiamate backup to Tony Parker was something we just couldn't find. Choosing between Ridnour and Shelvin Mack was going to be a tough choice with no real advantage. Signing Jose as our primary PG backup should complete our off-season process and put us in a position to compete for it all next season!
