Utah Jazz - Nikola MiroticWe'd like to thank all the teams who were in the running for my client. It truly was close till the end, but Nikola Mirotic has decided to sign with the Utah Jazz for the following contract: $85,270,228/5 Years Year 1: $16,775,000 Year 2: $16,900,000 Year 3: $17,038,750 Year 4: $17,192,762 (Player Option) Year 5: $17,363,716 (Player Option) Nikola wanted to go to a low pressure situation where he could take his time and grow with the team, and while many of the teams in the running had good young cores, we felt that the Jazz presented the best combination of young talent and immediate success. He's excited to join Tyreke, Jrue and Hassan to eventually contend for a title.

Skilled player that should end up being a Toni Koukoc type player.Gotta pay in this league to get who you want though at times..

It wont look overpaid next year! I don't think some folks have a full comprehension of the way the cap is going to change things over the next couple of seasons.

LOOKS LIKE BEST FRIENDS TO ME, HOW COULD I NOT SIGN HIM?! Makes no sense to have the cap space and not use it. I wasn't attracting any superstars to join my team, so why not a good long term starter. Maybe I overpaid, but who gives a fuck, In case you didn't notice I don't have to resign ANY of my people for what... 4? 5? years? Everyone is on a contract of 12M or less, with 2/3 of my team on rookie contracts that won't expire until like 2019. I think I'll be alright. It's like if Philly IRL decides to give Ish Smith 10M a year, who gives a fuck, they are basically just meeting their salary "floor"

I do think he's overpaid using our new contracts as a basis. This is the money that Draymond Green or Khris Middleton will make. Has he really proven to be not only on par with but better than those two (That's $15 million more than Middleton took IRL)?
Danny REALLY likes to make people pay. Actually he is making Cousins' contract look like a bargain!

I'm sure I'm not the only person here that would rather have mirotic on this contract than favors on his! Besides, this sim rewards teams that can shoot the 3 from every position with a big fucking dude in the middle... Take a look at my roster

Don't forget this sim was made in 2005. Big men were a much bigger deal then. The Pau/Dwight combo may have just as much or more to do with them winning the title as anything else.

Miami also made the Finals with Jeff Green, LeBron, DWade, and Deron. Green -36%, LeBron-35%, Wade-28%, Deron-36-7%.
Yes they can all shoot it but IMO the game rewarded LeBron and other high ratings maybe more than 3pt shooting.
I also rolled out a traditional more or less lineup and overachieved possibly to stay in the playoffs even after trading away higher rates players.
We'll see.

It wont look overpaid next year! Yes it will. Because he makes 5 million i real life. He had one OK rookie season where as an old rookie power forward he shot around 40%. Even under the new cap he'd be worth only around 10-12 per year.

And none of you know what you're talking about.
What would you have paid for a top 10 pick in the draft? Where would mirotic have been drafted in this draft class knowing what we do?
Not only that but THIBS is out. Fred Hoibergs offense is going to make Mirotic look like a rape machine.
And anyone who wouldn't pay 15% of the cap in 2017 for a great starter is stupid.

Haters gonna hate when I win a championship in 2018 with mirotic whiteside and cliff Alexander More like haters gonna hate when you quit because you have a bunch of below average to average players getting paid 2 times what they are worth. You are stuck over the cap and no one wants the bad contracts so you can't rebuild. Then the poor bastard who gets your team has to deal with it.

He's not a starter, hes a backup. He plays bad defense otherwise he would have ended up starting over Pau or Noah to stretch the floor. Where you were picked doesn't matter. Thomas Robinson was a top 5 pick and he sucks too. I'm sure he too would look effective in a lesser role on a good team too.

I can think of 5-6 people who would PayPal me money to take this team. No way I'd just "quit".

I think Mirotic has the potential to become a starter, but I don't think he'll ever live up to this contract.
We'll see
