I accept.
Although JJ's contract is horrible, he is an upgrade at the starting 2 for my team and we intend on making a deep championship run this season, regardless of the cost.
Also to consider...when Blake Griffin resigned with my team in the off-season, his agent let me know that he did not like playing with JR Smith and did not want him to be the starting 2 on our roster. True to our word, we have not played Smith very much at all and certainly not as a starter as we have looked for a deal to move him. We hope this type of deal will show that we are a franchise that is true to our word and honest with free agents.
Obviously the Spurs save a ton of cash and get a couple of decent pieces to build around going forward.

The Spurs have been in multiple trade offers in recent days. We had the option to save and cut alot more cap and go after a FA or bring in a replacement now for Johnson and Two definite players instead of hoping a player signs with us in the offseason. The other trade would have been nice but i was going to trade that cap space anyhow for players to help win now. After thinking it over we decided adding depth and a replacement now was best for our team.
We accept this and thank those other gms i was in talks with. I wish JJ the best, but I hope he curses our western rival.

Not going to lie, I'm a little upset JR turned down this deal that would've saved the Spurs $40m in salaries this off season: 75 - Patrick Patterson - $4,319,474 (expiring) 72 - Ekpe Udoh - $5,962,377 (expiring) 69 - Marquis Daniels - $1,085,000 (expiring) 75 - Kendrick Perkins - $9,154,342 (expiring)
<->
83 - Joe Johnson - $23,180,792 - $24,894,865 68 - Brendan Haywood - $9,798,000 - $10,522,500 74 - Shannon Brown - $5,000,000 - $5,000,000 But I accept. I really like the job Coach K is doing in LA.

You cant be mad at me for making a choice. Ok you had JJJ going somewhere i understand. But i see Smith lighting up the rest of the season and playoffs with Lebron. And Kris has played well off the bench for the Wizards. I filled two spots I was short and replaced Johnson who needs a fresh start somewhere or needs to retire. He can still play but hes no 83. He has a high salary. I get three players for one. Who knows whats going to happen in FA. And i did try and make it work but this trade was just better for my team for the next 2 seasons.

Hold up. The Spurs traded away Miami's 2016 2nd in this trade. I'm going to assume it's not a deal-breaker but it's up to @griz2385 and Mike Krzyzewski to work out a change.
