Grizzlies trade: Mem 2016 1st
Pelicans trade: Cha 2015 1st
I accept I have too many picks this year so this way I move a little father back to when I'll actually have the roster spot available.

It does look stupid for you Jeremiah How is your team going to improve that much in just a year unless you pick up lots of vets waiting for decreases or something?

I reject.
Charlotte has been under performing this year at just 12-17, but they are still only half a game out of the playoffs in the east. I can't see them not getting in with a lineup of Conley, Bledsoe, Wiggins and Ibaka.
Memphis on the other hand is a junkyard. The only valuable pieces there are Dion Waiters and Marcus Smart, but neither of those guys are all that good to be honest. To make the playoffs in the west you need a starting lineup with an average rating well above 80. It's just not possible for Memphis to improve this much by early next season. His 2016 pick will be very high in the lottery.

We may have to make this a your pick this season and maybe add a player from me if this fails Brian.

I don't see why it should fail. Charlotte was in the same situation last year. Had a likely 1 overall pick, tons of cap space and a bunch of young players.
I don't see how this is any different for Memphis. They have the most cap space in the league and have smart and Dion who will be high 70s to 80s next year.
Seems fair to me I just needed to conserve roster spots this year and he wanted a pick this year as opposed to next year.

I think the logic is one is in the east, and one is in the west.

To an extent it's good to let GMs have the freedom to make trades like this, you guys are both long serving members. It's just that, withholding a small miracle, it's clearly worse for Memphis, and all I've heard from Jeremiah is something mysterious, like it was directed by JJ Abrams or something

This isn't a complex trade, just pick for pick. If Jeremiah is able to improve his team a lot by the draft, and show there is hope for his 2016 pick not being one of the favourites for #1 overall then you guys can always repost this trade. But it doesn't make sense for the first part of your plan to be to dump your own pick next season for one that likely won't be in the lottery. That's just setting yourself up for failure.
Of course if Jeremiah can turn the Grizzlies around will Brian even want to do this trade? Despite what he says I think the high odds that this pick will land in the top 5 is huge draw for him. If it's really only about roster spots then I'll gladly trade my 2016 1st for this Hornets pick.

Yeah, jeremiah. dont mean to call you dumb here but youre pretty dumb if you think that charlotte pick will be top 10, it quite possibly wont even be in the lotto. the east is super shitty man.

Yeah, I mean anything can happen, but I'd be surprised if that Hornet's pick ends up 1st overall.

there is something to be said for earlier picks just being worth more. I think we ignore that a lot, but you see teams in pro sports give up a lot more future value for value now on draft day.
... jeremiah maybe youd just want to wait another month before taking this? i have a good feeling brian is going to accept this all the way to the end of the season... take some time to think about it and watch how the standings unfold. just my advice (not that you want the advice of a guy that unloaded mkg for whiteside)

Remeber, the draft comes before FA. your team will look like shit before you sign anyone. Brian will accept this trade in April. no reason to do it now. jus sayin.
it just amounts to an unnessecarily large bet on the flop, when you know the other guy will stay in it until the river... no reason to go all in now. see that 4th and 5th card first, so you have an opportunity to fold before it doesn't go your way.
Brian knows your pick is going to be super great next year, maybe you'll sign people in FA to change that, but your pick will be worth the same to him all the way up until the draft... while charlottes value will fluctuate. I'd wait.

Its a dumb trade at this time, really feel like he could get more.
