Ehhh... He is good. I don't know about 78 good. Looking at who else is rated that... lets give him a 77 until he shows a little more in the stat column. I do agree about his presence, though.

Torn. 78 makes him higher than Dieng but Dieng's stats are superior and I've watched both guys and don't think he should be above Dieng.
Torn b/c I personally gave Dieng a higher rating than a 77 though.
I guess I'll go 78.

79 big addition to CAVS, the reason why CAVS are number 2 right now in east.

The great rim protector timothy mozgov showed what he is made of by holding whiteside to 17 points and 8 boards on 72% shooting! Go Moz!

Brag about Whiteside when he does that on Marc Gasol, Noah, or a healthy Howard.

Not bragging just poking a jab at Mozgov, a 75 rated player has stomped him in every meeting between them this year... but since you bring up his performance vs higher rated centers i point to double doubles vs: hordord duncan mozgov nurkic lopez alex len al horford (24 reb, 14 pts) djieng chandler (24 reb, 16 pts) and this was just in march. he did do it vs noah in february, in fact, that was his triple dozen game... Just showing some love. McCallum and Whiteside took me from a 10th place team to the league championship in 10 weeks

Feb 1: T. Zeller 17 pts, 6 reb. Feb 3: Drummond 14, 14, and shot 6/11 Feb 4: Dieng 13, 9 shot 4/5 and didn't play full minutes. Whiteside played great however (Pekovic Sucks) Feb 11: Mosgov 20, 9, shot 9/11 blow out win for the Cavs. Feb 21: O Asik, 15, 9 shot 6-9 in Pelicans win where AD played 9 minutes. Feb 25: Vucevic 26, 6, 10-21 barely beat Orlando Feb 27: O Asik, 5, 10, didn't score much in this game but they still won without AD again. Feb 28: He never got a double double vs Horford because Horford didn't play this game and they still lost. Mar 2: A. Len 11, 10 Mar 3: Whiteside murdered the LA front court, but no one is saying he's not better than Robert Sacre and Ryan Kelly Mar 16: Whiteside plays well and gets a vs. Cleveland and Mosgov and TT sucked it up. Mar 18: Whiteside does well vs. Robin Lopez and they get a win. Mar 20: Nurkic 16, 7 shoots 70% Mar 22: Kanter and Adams both get double doubles with Kanter racking up 27 and 12 on 12/20 shooting. Apr 2: Mosgov doesn't impress but TT is able to get 5 offensive boards and 15 total shooting 75%
I only looked at games since Feb and tried to avoid games where he only played 15-20 minutes and ones right after he missed games (assume he was hurt or something and it's not fair to judge on a first game back.) But all I see based on these numbers is a guy who puts up stats on a bad-below average team with no one else around to put up stats.
His blocks tell me he's a good help defender but how bad he gets beat by other avg centers just tells me his defense really isn't that great or he lacks focus.
Having seen him actually play I think he's a good player who could develop into a REALLY good player especially considering he was probably pretty close to being out of the league is very impressive. But just because he blew by expectations doesn't mean he's all of a sudden amazing. This is the same reason Jeremy Lin got so overrated and subsequently people think he sucks even though the fact that he averages 11 ppg is practically a miracle considering the expectations people had for him before he was discovered. Lin is an average people who got rich because people over reacted to one breakout situation. When Lin saved the Knicks season that year and was averaging 20ppg the teams leading scorer was out (Melo) and expectations for the team were low and him even lower. This sound familiar? Bosh is out (even though Whiteside was doing well before Bosh went out) and he's had a solid stretch of games in mostly losses.
I think that Whiteside has staying power and for someone you found in mid-season FA its great even if he maxes out as a 3rd big off the bench. But lets not let one stretch of pretty good games where it's clear neither him nor the opposing player is playing any damn defense (seriously him and his opponents probably average 65% shooting). He's a young player and you have him locked up long term (you're welcome). But calm down with demanding changes, if he starts next year like this and he goes strong for a month and a half he'll be an 82-85 depending on how much he improves.
If you give him a big rating now you will have a harder time of convincing people he needs a boost when he gets better.

@riogho
Mosgov is sitting at a 79 because he's got a good overall game but overall is likely where he stays. He's contributed to two very good teams (this years Cavs and the Nuggets before they blew butts) He's the definition of an average starter and really had been for a bit but those Nuggets were deep as heck. He's gonna put up middling stats for as long as he's on the Cavs.

Um, Mozgov is only going up to a 77. Stick to the facts, jacks.
