Paul Pierce at an 82 is just too high for him. Here's his stats:
12.8/4.3/2.1/0.4/0.7 PTS/RBD/AST/BLK/STL on 45.5% shooting and 38% from 3 and off of his career average from the free throw line at 78.6%.
The Truth isn't what he once was. And while he's at an 82 there's good young guys scoring more points who aren't at getting the upgrades they deserve.
Suggested Rating: 78
We can make it so he is still a capable scorer but an 82 is just an inflated rating. If you take his name away, you wouldn't think of him as an 82.

His and Dipo's stats aren't all that dissimilar in shape anyway. But, I agree Dipo's are better and people are putting 76 down for him (cough voice of reason cough). I don't think I've put down a rating on Dipo yet, but I think what Pierce is doing deserves around...
79. I probably added a point or even 2 because he is Paul Pierce, but those stats are not that good.

I will go with a 78 too. He is mostly there for being a mentor and leader; two things which shouldn't reflect in the rating.

His stats and advance stats are still pretty impressive. His TS% is still at 58 and he is still shooting 38% at 3s. his WS is still pretty high specially OWS.
I think his offensive game is still there, his defensive skills should receive the decrease.
80 for me

Just going to say that Pierce is the same guy you voted to be an 82 last season here. His per 36'es and percentages: 17.3 PPG/ 6.0 RPG/ 3.1 APG/ 45.1% FG/ 37.3% 3PT 17.2 PPG/ 5.8 RPG/ 2.8 APG/ 45.3% FG/ 38.4% 3PT As for his FT drop, he's 2% off his career average. I hardly think that constitutes a 3 point drop. He's playing a minute less than last year and has barely dropped off even in his raw stats since that last vote. I also can't help but think an attempt to get a comparison to Oladipo. Pierce is putting up almost the same numbers as Oladipo in 6 less minutes. It's not like Pierce is incapable of playing a 30 minute game now. Really think we're giving too much to the young guys while shortchanging the veterans. 82.

7 Votes, would like to get 3 more. Not asking for much, just for a third of the league to vote on each thread, that way the ratings can be most accurate.

You guys really need to see how Randy Wittman handles the Wizards minutes, Pierce is putting up almost identical numbers from last year.

You guys really need to see how Randy Wittman handles the Wizards minutes, Pierce is putting up almost identical numbers from last year. lol per 36 numbers are great unless the reason he isnt getting 36 is because they are too old to play 36 every night. and before you say thats not true, it is 100% true. Kevin Garnetts per 36 numbers look great too, he should be a 80+ player! No, thats not how it should work. It should work like it does in real life. If you rate PP an 80, then hes gonna play 36 minutes in the sim, which he NEVER does, BECAUSE HE CANT. Who is PP losing his minutes too? You think he'd be playing less than 36 minutes if they thought he wouldn't get tired? Of course he would! Would he have the same stats if he played those minutes? Probably not. But even if he did, it stands the fact that he cant play starter minutes every night in the NBA. And therefore he shouldn't be playing starter minutes in the sim. Is there a stamina rating? Just lower his stamina rating until he gets to the new overall score. Problem now solved for all old players. anyone want to hear whitesides per 36? lolo

It's not even a matter of the Per 36'es . Thread was posted when Pierce was playing 2 less minutes than last year - I put up the Per 36'es to show that he hasn't dropped off since then. He's now putting up the same numbers that he was when people voted him to an 82. dynasty5ive.proboards.com/thread/3696/paul-pierce

I think it's a combo of things on a guy like Pierce. These studs of the past era consistently are given a bump from people. They either want to give them the benefit of the doubt, or they can't wrap their head around dropping someone like him "this many" points at once. So last year, his 82 was "well he's seemingly declined but he IS Paul Pierce". Now, he's still Paul Pierce but the trend is pretty set that he has declined to around this level. Plus, that's why he's only gotten a 2 point decrease here and is still a very useful 80.

Maybe drop athletics and defense a smidge. The real reason his scoring and assisting numbers have dropped is because he isn't getting to the line nearly as much which is a symptom of playing with two guards who shoot it like crazy. Rebounds are down because he doesn't need to go into the post as much because he plays with two real bigs. I fucking hate Paul Pierce but you got to look at what is actually happening. You have a previously amazing player who has slipped a bit in athleticism and defense. But he's really pretty much the same on offense as he was. He probably wouldn't top 20 ppg unless he was in a Kobe style situation. But he can be a good starter level player.
