I made another one for him previously but it got mostly ignored.
Anyway, I’ll try to keep this short, although I know I probably won’t.
I’m not looking for Robin Lopez to be ranked as a superstar. I’m not even asking him to be ranked as a star. But he is the very essence of a superb starter. He does everything his team asks him to do, and he does it well.
-)He shoots a high percentage.
-)He gets boards and boxes out alll the time for his teammates – plus almost half of his rebounds are offensive boards.
-)He runs the pick and roll skillfully - and defends it just as effectively.
-)He’s also a just-below-elite rim protector.
-)Did I mention that he shoots his free throws at 82%?
He is a quality starter on a competitive Western team. He may not be an incredible scorer, but he is very gifted at all the little things that contribute to an NBA starting-caliber player.
Right now he is ranked equal to Timofey Mozgov. He is only ranked above 3-4 “starting” centers, the best of whom is Tiago Splitter, the other 2 are OKC’s Perkins and Aadams.
He is ranked below Chris Kaman(77) – HIS OWN BACKUP. THAT MAKES NO SENSE.
He is also ranked below SAMUEL DALEMBERT(79). I’m from NY, Knicks fan, and please please please explain how that is possible. Dalembert couldn’t stop a basketball from going through a golf-course hole and is barely able to stay on the court for longer than 20 minutes.
I'm voting for an 81, although I think that an 80-81 is realistic/fair/reasonable.
P.S. I'm pretty sure there is no one who can compete with Robin Lopez reaction gifs. He is the complete package.
