Current Rating: 87
Suggested Rating: 92
Anthony Davis is quickly emerging as the best big in the NBA and possibly the best player overall. With another season or two I think he will be a serious MVP contender. Currently he is averaging 25.4ppg 11.2rpg 3.4blkpg 2.1stlpg and shooting around 56% from the field.
I think Davis is the real deal and should start the season in the 90's at the very least.

I know I said 95 in the other thread, but watching him get bullied by Cousins made me take it back down to a 92. Still an amazing talent. He'll probably end up 95-97 next year though.

91/92 from me
If he keeps it up, then bump him higher.

I say 92 at this point but would expect for him to quickly move up even more soon.

I've got no problem bringing him to a 90 89 right now, would probably be more amiable to boosting him further once he takes his team somewhere. To be fair though, even a late scramble for the 8th seed would probably be enough for me considering he's in the Southwest. Edit: James Kay's post in mind and having looked through my previous stance on the Kevin Love thread, might be minor but I'd actually be more comfortable with an 89. Again, I'll give him the 90+ when he takes his Pelicans somewhere.

I'll put in a 92, but I am ready to go higher as the season goes on lol. Love this kid.

I think I'm gonna go with 90. I think he just might be the next big big thing, but I also think anything higher than 90 too high for his current level of play. His PER right now is absolutely absurd but it is only a few weeks into the season.
Also, just to spark discussion, because I'm not exactly sure of my own thoughts on the matter, but is AD that much more valuable than Stephen Curry - who's rated an 89? The Warriors are playing much better than the Pelicans right now. Is Curry's supporting cast and coaching that much greater? Just something to think about I guess. Like I said, just looking to spark discussion.
Edited: 92

You do realize fantasy is based off what guys do in real life right? Read the entire article. It's more than just a fantasy basketball puff piece.

He almost led that team to the playoffs last year in a historically competitive Western Conference. In his second year.

Bump
"Davis leads the player efficiency ratings at 33.43, more than double the league average. If he kept that up for a full season, he would surpass Wilt Chamberlain’s 1962-63 season for the most efficient on record." - BENJAMIN HOFFMAN
I know people want to hold off giving Davis a big boost because he is still so young, but Jeremiah made an excellent point. Given the strength of the west and his talent to work with in New Orleans, being a second year forward last year and nearly getting your team to the playoffs speaks for itself. This year he is putting it all together and is quickly becoming the best NBA player. I'm being conservative now with my 92 rating boost but pretty soon 95+ is gonna come a knockin' and I think it's fair to give him his due.

Same argument I've always had for Kevin Love: he might put up a ton of stats, but he still has never had a winning record.
83 Jrue Holiday 81 Eric Gordon 83 Tyreke Evans 82 Ryan Anderson 87 Anthony Davis
Something isn't adding up here with how high we've rated all the Pelicans players.
Davis only gets an 89 from me until he starts contributing in a winning environment.

Barber - The team doesn't know how to win yet. They are getting there, but talent doesn't always equal wins. More talented teams lose to less talented teams all of the time in all sports. The Pelicans are doing well and making improvements. They are in the toughest division I've ever seen in my life, and the Conference is still hella-strong.
You simply must give AD credit for what he's doing. Same argument I've always had. How can you ignore the stats completely? Does coaching not matter? Does team chemistry not matter? A winning culture needs to be cultivated. You know even Michael Jordan, the greatest of all time, didn't come into the league winning championships, even though his stats were great right away. I guess some of us would have seen Jordan's talent before he got his team a ring, while Barber would have had him as an 89 through his first 5 seasons.
I'm not comparing AD to Jordan, but the kid is a fucking basketball monster, give him some damn credit.

I was more referring to your statements about the Pelicans team, with Davis as part of that. He's better than an 89 though. If I wasn't being conservative I'd have him at a 94 or 95, but we have different standards.

what we need to give him right now is the safest rating that we can.. with just 16 games in the season.. I do believe he will not falter and it will all depends if he can carry his team to the playoffs. For me the safest rating is 93 and if he did not falter and carry his team to the playoffs, he should have a 96

I will give Glenn the 92 he wants. Honestly, I've never seen him play a full game but his stats and highlights are INSANE! It's too bad the Kings didn't win the 2012 draft lottery!

89 if we hold Kyrie and Love same standards for not being able to elevate team and make the playoffs you have to do the same for Davis although the major difference between Davis and those 2 is the fact he plays defense and they don't, if it was strictly stats (which he dominates both offense/defense) then it's a 93 from me.

I want to push for his increase because I believe that he is one of the most deserving of it.
Here are some numbers: TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS 13-14 10.0 1.6 1.3 2.8 1.6 3.0 20.8 14-15 10.2 1.6 1.7 3.0 1.3 1.9 24.6
13-14 D5 Ave 19.9 pts 10.5 rebs 1.9 asts 1.07 stls 2.22 blks
Advance Stats: PER TS% 3PAr FTr ORB% DRB% TRB% AST% STL% BLK% 13-14 26.5 .582 .009 .438 10.0 23.3 16.6 8.0 2.0 6.7 14-15 32.5 .616 .014 .396 8.3 24.9 16.4 8.5 2.4 6.6
I do consider the argument that he still cannot lead his team to the playoff..
so I do believe the best rating for him right now is 92. The difference of his D5 averages to his real life numbers is quite big. The bulk of the increase should be on the scoring skills and Outside defense skills.
