Current Rating: 86 Suggested Rating: 87
Pau is playing exceptionally well and beyond my expectations at the Bulls. 19 and 12 with 2 blocks a game on 48.6% shooting from the field. While also dishing out nearly 3 assists per game.
I am changing my vote to put him at an 87, same as I rated Dwight who has similar stats.

80 feels too low for Pau. Charles you do realize you're using the Chris Bosh scale but turning it into the Nikola Pekovic scale :-p I think you do realize, it's just a bit funny. Pau's advantage in rebounds, assists, and blocks are not to be glossed over. Those are all areas we use to make changes to a player's ratings. Pek does need an increase but I'm not sure Pau should be decreased all that much. Pau Gasol - 85, maybe 84 Nikola Pekovic - 83 If me making a Pekovic scale is what it takes, then I'm fine with that. It's basically either Pek gets brought up or I shit on 10 or so bigs. Its 2.5 assists, a block, and a board more with nearly 6% less on 2P FG%. I mean, we can sit here and cherry pick stats back and forth all day, whether its individual advanced stats, traditional individual stats, or team stats. And at the end of it, no one can say that there's seriously a 5 point OVR disparity between Pau and Pek which is what it is now. The only thing there seems to be is extreme bias against Pek, or the T'Wolves in general. Do I care more about it because Pek is on one of my teams? Probably. But I also care that Hibbert put up 11 and 7 on 44% 2P FG's with 2.2 BLK/G and a disparity in important advanced stats and they are rated the same or that Hibbert is rated the same as Drummond now. And the same can be said about a lot of bigs in the league. And if going through and making threads about them is what needs to be done, then I'll do it. It would also be less conspicuous on my part that I want Pek's value to increase to take the aforementioned actions. I do not know what it will take to correct the above-average big ratings in the sim, but I'm more than willing to make threads and form logical arguments to do so. It just seems that they are more out of line than with the guards and wings. I bet if I erased names and OVR ratings, the GMs would see the many disparities.

Shit on 10 or so bigs. < Do this there are a lot of underrated young guys and a lot of overrated guys out there.
Pau had a statistical drop last season but it wasn't nearly as bad as everyone thinks and he really is a victim of visibility bias by having a rough year as the #1 option on a shit team in the West and this season with a really crowded lane even with the addition of Douggy McBuckets there is no way he puts up the stats he's used to putting up. Hell his rebounds might actually go down because Kobe isn't gonna shoot 50 times a game. Also I will say this, it's probably easier to average a high FG% with K Love stretching the floor and Rubio feeding you inside than it is to do it with Ryan Kelly and fuckin Nick Young.

Charles, I agree that these ratings need fixed, I think it can be done w/o comparing to one specific player who could (and does in this case) have an incorrect rating IMO, that's all. Just put up the stats for Pau and people will see he could come down a couple points. Asking for an 80 for what Pau did just makes ALL of the bigs be underrated, which is also not a good solution IMO.
If Pau is an 80 like you just said, we gotta go take Favors back down to a 75-76, and there are other fixes needed too as a result of that. It's a never-ending cycle, when the biggest fix is needed on the one player you chose to compare everyone to.
To each their own, but I fear people will buy into your scale and then our highest rated big will be an 86 before long :-p

The simple fact is that Pekovic isn't that good and you'll see it when he loses Kevin Love and they go from barely missing the playoffs to probably bottom 3 in the league. This will prove A. Pek sucks, B. Wiggins isn't the second coming of Christ like everyone seems to think.

85, MAYBE 84 if were really pushing it. Its Pau Gasol.
ROTY, 2x NBA Champion, 4x NBA All-Star, NBA Second Team, 2x NBA 3rd Team, FIBA World Cup MVP, the all-time Grizzlies leading scorer, 7 foot passing machine.
D'Antoni sucks fat fucking hot dogs. Mike Brown chokes on said hot dogs. This is a drastic change for a another mediocre season pretty easily explained bye the eye test (D'Antoni's system is NOT made for him - and LAL had other issues to account for) and career low minutes.
Did you all forget he averaged 14, 12, and 6 in the one playoff series they had last year? He's still a beast.

I think Spain is going to win the FIBA tournament going against a frontcourt that our league has rated: 87 (Davis), 80 (Faried), 87 (Cousins), 76 (Plumlee).
Marc Gasol: 83 Pau: 86 Ibaka 82 Reyes: Not even in the league. We'll say 70.

Bump this thread. Its crazy to me that Pau is scheduled to have his rating decreased to 84 based on votes that all happened before this season even started after already being dropped to an 86 at the end of last season. Since everyone seems to have a hard-on for his brother Marc who just today got his rating changed to an 87, lets compare the two:
Marc Gasol: 19.5 ppg - 8.1 rpg - 3.6 apg - 1.7 bpg - 50% FG - 80% FT - 28% 3FG - 34.5 MPG - 15.6 PIE
Pau Gasol: 19.0 ppg - 11.4 rpg - 2.6 apg - 2.2 bpg - 48% FG - 82% FT - 44% 3FG - 34.8 MPG - 16.7 PIE
2 games ago Pau dropped 46 & 18. He is healthy and playing in an offensive system that suits his skills much better than D'Antoni's (sp?) system did in LA.
Suggested Rating: 87-88

Suggested Rating: 87-88 The problem is the decrease was going off of Pau's last years numbers. The decrease didn't happen yet because he wasn't due for a 4-5+ point change. In a perfect world, that decrease happens, this thread closes and we make a new thread for him to be raised back up. But that didn't happen, so now we have this weird thread where everyone should change their votes. I voted an 87, I think he is playing just as well as Dwight, and I rated Dwight an 87.

Bump this thread again. Pau is playing at an extremely high level right now.
Averaging a career high in rebounds this year. He is also top 5 in the league in rebounds & blocks & top 10 in the league in PER. Also one of the better passing bigs in the league
IMO he is better than Al Jefferson who is rated an 88 in this league
