Hey Ian Is D5* still running? Also is F5 continuing to use the same sim engine as D5? D5* is not running any more When Josh (Barber) came to me saying he would host his own off season league I was super happy because it will be good for me to have a break. Also we collaborated (continue to do so) to make F5 so it will be a long-term thing. I devote a lot of my free time to D5. I want to teach myself a few programming languages in the next few months and maybe even make my own sim engine that we can use. D5 takes up so much of my time, I wouldn't be able to do that if I switched to D5*. F5 does indeed use the same sim engine as D5. We're sharing databases so that the player ratings are the same and everything.

You must be really smart if you are going to make your own sim engine....

You must be really smart if you are going to make your own sim engine.... I'm angling my career in that direction, so anything's possible

I completely understand with D5* - you clearly put a lot of time and thought into D5 and D5*. Taking a break is probably the best thing for the long term health of the league. You have my personal thanks for making this work.
I applaud your desire to code your own sim engine. To me the weakest part of D5 is the mis-match between simulated performance and actual statistics. There are some very sophisticated off the shelf simulation programs which would significantly improve the realism of the results. I have looked into a couple that seem interesting - links attached below if you are interested:

See you in December.

Only problem is that sim programs are usually expensive as shit.
