Dynasty Five's ROOKIE OF THE YEARVICTOR OLADIPO Houston RocketsThe 2014 Rookie of the Year is awarded to Victor Oladipo of the Houston Rockets (GM: Charles Barkley)!
After being taken #1 by former Rockets GM Otis Smith, Oladipo led all rookies in both scoring and stealing, came third in assists per game and was an integral reason for Houston's admirable 39W - 43L record which came throughout constant lineup changes to the Rockets, all whilst Oladipo remained a solid starting 2-guard.
The race for Rookie of the Year was a close one. Trey Burke and Ben McLemore were both solid first and second scoring options for the Magic and Celtics respectively, but neither were able to lift their teams from the bottom of the Tankings by the end of the season. Real-life ROTY Winner, Michael Carter-Williams, performed excellently once arriving in Brooklyn but not before he was sat on the bench for almost half the season in Golden State.
Oladipo actually logged more steals per game than any rookie in the history of D5, taking away 1.66 steals per game in comparison to Kyrie Irving's 1.37spg and Damian Lillard's 1.40spg, no doubt leading to many fastbreak highflying dunks at the other end.
With the Houston Rockets guaranteed at least two Top 6 picks in this year's rookie draft, Oladipo will no doubt continue to be an integral part of his team's rebuilding efforts.
Congratulations to Charles Barkley, Victor Oladipo and the Houston Rockets!20013/14 Stats - 18.7ppg | 3.6rpg | 4.6apg | 1.66spg | 0.52bpg
